Lactation Consultant
Can anyone recommend a lactation consultant in the Commack area? Hopefully, we won't need one, but wanted to have some references just in case.

there is a free bfing group at southside run by an LC. It is at 1:30 on Tuesdays. It was a life saver for me. Great support from other new mom's and the LC

I used Peconic Peds in Riverhead (right at the end of the LIE). It's a bit of a trek but they were recommended by a friend from Northport who used them. It's a pediatrician who is an LC and employs a few others at the office.
The best part is the baby would more than likely be well fed for the drive home! I actually had my sister come with me and was able to stop at the outlets for a few things while DD slept in the car after her great feeding.

Try to google La Leche League and see if they hold meetings near you. they're free to low cost

Jen from St. Catherines runs a free bfing group too. It has been a long time since I went so I don't remember the time but if you call up St. Catherine's they will be able to let you know. Jen was great during my bfing time.

I think SB Midwives are about to start a new breastfeeding support group too and they've said the meetings will most likely be in the evenings.

Your pediatricians office may be able to recommend one. I actually checked with my insurance and found out I gave 3 visits covered by their in network lc so I got the info based on that. We ended up not needing to use them though

I am good friends with Jen ands he has helped me BF all 3 of my boys.
The group is on Tuesdays at 12 in sienna village.
