Jarred baby food vs make your own
My ds is starting solids and I am torn on what to do. I always thought I would make it, but truth be told I am so confused on how.... I mean steam, mash and freeze but ???? freeze kind of grosses me out and I don't want to waste...

You could make single batches but you'd have to do it for every meal. I did this because I used both jarred and homemade. She would get homemade of what I was already making. Maybe you can get an extra meal or two out of it if you don't mind having it after a day or 2 in the fridge.

I haven't given any jarred foods. I just take pieces of whatever and mash it up. No pureeing.

Honestly this was stressing me out to no end when I had DS. I am FTWM so I gave him the jarred and it made life so easy lol Now with DD I didn't even question it since time is even more limited. Do whatever works for you!

My first DS I bought jarred food. Now with 2 more boys coming, I decided when the times comes I will make it. It's easy enough and will be less expensive than buying. But first time around I was a new mom, and working FT so I bought the jars to make my life a little easier.

I'm a FTWM with twins. ease and cost were the most important. I didnt want to be spending tons of $$$ on jarred food, it was important to use that they are organically, and I didnt want to be spending all day sat, or sunday making food, when I barely saw them all week.
So I made the easy foods in bulk and froze a lot of it!!!!! I ended up making a batch once every 2 weeks or so and I only made the easy stuff. Apples, pears, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, I'm sure there were a few others also. I steamed everything and threw it in the food processor.

I work FT. I used jarred and didn't even think 2x about it. My Dr and said it was perfectly fine.
DO whatever you feel is right for you. There is no right or wrong.

Jarred baby food vs make your own
Thanks everyone. I am a FTWM that works from home, with my DS. Needless to say it's chaos !!!! I am not quite sure what will work yet... If you used jarred, what kind do you use?

I use jarred Earths Best or Organic Gerber. When you read the ingredients it's just the fruit/veggie and water. I'd be more concerned if I saw additives and such. Sometimes I make my own like if I'm making sweet potatoes I'll save some and mash it up, mix with water or bm and give it to the baby. Same with bananas, avocado and easy stuff like that. Honestly, they eat baby food for such a short amount of time. Eventually they are ready to eat what you are eating after 3-4 months on solids. Don't stress!

ITA with this.
IMO, I'd have a higher chance of contamination with making food than The risk of who knows with jarred food. It really has nothing except for fruits and veggies.

I am a ftwm and make dd's baby food. She started solids at 6 months and is 7 months now. I only made baby food 2x. Each time I made enough to freeze. It is so easy. And some of the first foods like avocado and banana you just mash.
Pretty soon she won't eat baby food so it's a short window. But you should do what works best for you and your schedule.

I'm a FTWM. I make DD food. For me it's not hard or take up time. I make enough for her DC and for us at home. I do it every two weeks. I use silicone trays and freeze. I enjoy doing it.

I'm a FTWM, and I used jarred food. I used a mixture of regular Gerber's, Organic, Beechnut, Plum Organics, Sprout, etc.
