Acts of kindness (snow-related?)

Anyone experience acts of kindness on either side due to the snow?

I had my wonderful neighbors help dig out my driveway.

I plan on sending them a gift card to a local restaurant as a thank you.

Went around to our neighbors seeing if they needed anything, milk, etc.

My husband got stuck at the Hess by the LIE at exit 63 & this wonderful guy by the name of Zach went into the gas station, borrowed a shovel and helped dig DH out and gave him a bump to get his car going! So Thank you Zach!

Then when DH got home our next door neighbor shoveled our side of the driveway in addition to his! Then yesterday DH & all the guys helped one another out.

It was nice to see that kindness and generosity isn't dead.

Re: Acts of kindness (snow-related?)

DH and all of our neighbors help each other out when it snows. The guy across the street is the only one who owns a snowblower. He had to work a 12+ hour shift in the city, so left it out for everyone to use. DH did his driveway while he was at work.

I think this is just what being neighborly is all about.

One of our neighbor's has not been able to live at home since the hurricane. I am trying to think of something to do for him when he's officially moved back in.

He's single and lost his wife to cancer a few years ago, and that's why he moved here (smaller house, less to maintain).

I might make him a few meals so he doesn't have to worry about that.

Acts of kindness (snow-related?)

While DH was still trying to get home yesterday, I went outside to shovel and a nice man offered to shovel my entire driveway and walkway that was covered in well over 2 feet of snow. Best $40 I ever spent. Then when DH made it home, a car got stuck on our block so he and a few neighbors went out there to help him dig out but after nearly an hour they had no luck and 18 hours later, the car is still stuck.

My neighbors helped dig out dh's truck, we actually paid our unemployed neighbor to clear our driveway. He was grateful for the money, us for the help. Everyone on our block has just been helping everyone else dig out and lending out shovels and such. It's nice to see all the comraderie.

Re: Acts of kindness (snow-related?)

My parents are semi - retired and older. My dad woke up late yesterday and found the neighbors boys cleared the front of the sidewalk. My parents live on a corner. So when my dad came out later he cleared out the rest of his sidewalk and another neighbor. It was a lifesaver for my dh and I cause we try to get there to help.

Re: Acts of kindness (snow-related?)

My old neighborhood had people who kept to themselves mainly. In my new neighborhood, all of the neighbors have been out helping each other. Its so nice! Helping each other snowblow the driveways, helping out the older neighbors, getting the cars unstuck that keep trying to drive.

Same here minus the snowblower. Many of our neighbors and DH have helped each other shovel out and dig out the cars when they get stuck.

My husband dug out our older neighbors next door and his parents and their next door neighbors (we have a snowblower and only got a foot).

The guy across the street helped dh with the end of our driveway since he was planning on helping our neighbors but dh beat him to it.

The guy two doors down has a plow but didn't help them...

My neighbor helped my get the snow off of the roof of my suv, in turn I helped another neighbor get the snow off of their car too. We all pay it forward in our neighborhood. I love my block and neighbors.

Re: Acts of kindness (snow-related?)

Our neighbor snowblowed our sidewalk before we even woke up yesterday then helped with the driveway when DH went out. DH and that neighbor dig our other neighbor out who just had a baby last week and her DH was stuck in the city overnight. It's so nice to have great neighbors.

I wish we had nicer neighbors.
My neighbor snow blowed his driveway out while the older man across the street was trying to hand shovel his whole walk and driveway. He kept having to stop and take breaks. My neighbor went inside and never offered help.
DH went out and pushed our snowblower over and dug his driveway and walk out.
The guy said he has lived here for years and years and no one has ever helped him.

My parents are older and my father is.very.sick with cancer and their.neighbor.plowed and shoveled them out. So grateful because they really would have been stuck. DH and i could have shoveled if we had to!

Acts of kindness (snow-related?)

I live alone in my complex so my neighbor and I helped each other dig out yesterday. Today I went back out to help neighbors dig out and to help dig out an elderly person's car.

Absolutely and I cannot be thankful enough! My DH started to shovel yesterday and a half hour in he through his back out very bad. Almost called an ambulance.

I went out this morning to try and clear a path for our cars and my neighbor came over and helped me. He did the end of the driveway where the plow came and did the rest for me. I was so grateful I couldn't contain myself.

Yes....about 15 of the men on our block went out yesterday and did a group shoveling and cleared out every single persons car. They worked for hours

Re: Acts of kindness (snow-related?)

No!

My dad has a procedure on his heart this week therefore it was up to my mom and me to do the shoveling. We shoveled a lot all through Friday and into Staurday. I then shoveled their garage out (I'm in Queens so it's not a long driveway or anything) and one of my jerky neighbors who I don't even know has the nerve to say to me "Don't you have any men where you come from" I was so stunned and said "Excuse me?" he said "Don't you have any men that can do that work?" I said "my father has a heart condition so I figured I would do it for him" he proceeds to question again and says "what, your brother can't do it?" I don't even know why I answered but I was soooo angry I just said "He doesn't live here anymore". I should have said why thank you for offering to help D0uchebag! I was livid when I was done
