LIRR parking- Merrick or elsewhere
Hi,
I'm going to be starting a new job and will have to go to NYC for orientation for a week. Does anyone know if you have to pay for parking at the Merrick station and what the availability of spots is like? Is there a better station to go to? Thanks in advance

Don't know about that station, but whenever I need to go to the city, I usually park and leave out of Seaford. There's tons of free parking in the lot West of the train station.
As a plus, many of the rush hour trains are express to and from Seaford.

Merrick station parking is free and very packed early on. It's also usually the last stop before Jamaica (for those trains that stop at Jamaica) and finding a seat isn't always the easiest.

agreed. it depends what time you plan on going. i take the 7:13 from bellmore that goes to atlantic and its packed when we pull up in merrick. either take an earlier train or park in bellmore.

It's very packed and free. BIL & SIL live across the street and have cars lined up and down their block and in front of their house and people cross over sunrise to get there. It's a smallish lot

You are better off parking in Bellmore or Seaford. Seaford has the biggest lot. They both have sections that are permit only, but plenty of non-permit spaces as well. Bellmore can fill up by later in the morning, but there is pretty much always a spot in Seaford.

If the spots require a sticker it is 3$ from the town of hempstead. Bellmore has a little more than half as free but, you can't get a spot after 7:50. Merrick doesn't have as much parking. Seaford has a ton. You need the parking permit for that.
