EBF and stools
My DS is 10 days old and on breast milk only, he is also slightly jaundice which he is being monitored for by visiting nurses and his pedi. He isn't have the typical 'mustard' seedy poops but rather, orange colored seedy. Also he will not have a large BM, but tiny smears or nickel size with every diaper change. Is this normal? I'm worried that he isn't getting enough. TIA

Re: EBF and stools
I was always worried that DD wasn't getting enough too. She was jaundiced for the first month - really yellow for the first week, and then it got better over then next 3 weeks. It's natural to be concerned when you can't see how much the baby is drinking. I forget how many stools they're supposed to have a day, but I think I remember that it "counts" as a BM if it's bigger than a quarter. Also, is he wetting his diapers? I loved having the Pampers with the stripe, that way I could see when DD was wet and not have to wonder.
Oh, and DD's stools never looked like they said it was supposed to. More of an orange than a yellow for sure. And they didn't look "seedy" until she was a little older.
Congratulations and good luck with the BFing!

EBF and stools
Sounds just like DD as a newborn. She went back and forth between orange and green poop and constantly had little spurts which the ped said was very normal. She is ebf as well and has never had any issues (although I constantly worried about her getting enough). Just remember your body is mean to feed your baby and will give him everything he needs! GL and congrats!

Re: EBF and stools
This apparently was controversial betewen my ped and the nurses at the hospital but he said dont worry about poop so early focus on wet diapers.
