1st AF after pregnancy?
This might sound dumb but I have no idea if I have my period or its just postpartum bleeding.
I'm 4 weeks pp. By 2-2 1/2 weeks I was pretty much done bleeding and just had some discharge (sorry for the TMI) and a little blood. Since yesterday (4 weeks exactly after my c-section) I've had heavier, more AF-like bleeding. I don't have full fledged AF cramps or bloating though. How am I supposed to tell the difference between post partum bleeding vs. AF? Is 4 weeks too early to get AF?
(On a side note, I have PCOS so prior to getting pregnant my periods were extremely irregular).

not a dumb question at all - i am / was in a similar boat.
i had postpartum bleeding for about 5 weeks and then it got heavier for a few days (but not nearly as heavy as my usual periods, and no cramps or whatnot). I still have no idea if it was a period or not.

If you're not BF then it's probably your period. If you are BF, you might want to call the doctor if bleeding stopped and then started again.

I am Bfing and bleed for 7 weeks. I got my period back at 14 months pp.

I was confused about this too. At 4 weeks I started to bleed again, and then at 8 weeks for a day or two. However just now at 3 months pp I got my period. It was a lot more than the other times and I am breast feeding too!
I didn't think I could get a period while ebf-ing, but I did!

I'm at 5.5 weeks pp and still have the occassional day where i bleed and think it is AF, but then it stops as quickly as it started.
i think previously i got it around 9-10 weeks because i went on the pill at my 6 week appointment.

You can get a period while EBF and you can get PG.....Those are both myths.

I think it varies for everyone. Are you BF or FF? I bled for 5 weeks, and then didnt' get AF until 12 weeks pp (although, I got it again 2 weeks later...). I am FF.

I'm in the same boat. Bled for 3 or 4 weeks pp then spotted at 7-8 weeks now some discharge this week. So weird! I was going to call the dr this week. I haven't gone for my 6 week Cs checkup.

i bled heavily for ~6wks, on and off up to 10wks. then AF came ~4mo pp. if bleeding returns after the first few wks and its not AF, rest a bit.

1st AF after pregnancy?
With both my deliveries section and vaginal I bled for about 1-2 wks and then it was over. All of a sudden I started bleeding again at 4-5 wks. Not a period since I didn't have cramps or anything. Just more pp bleeding. When AF came back I KNEW. It was horrible! Really bad cramps and really bad bleeding. I nursed both my kids as well. My doc wasn't concerned with my 2nd bout of pp bleeding. I guess it's pretty normal :)
