feeding cereal for first time Q
I am a first time mom with a question about starting your baby on cereal...
Today DH took DS for his 16 week check up. The Dr. said that he could begin cereal mixed with formula. DS didn't ask any questions about it, basically just said ok
Anyway i just wanted to know approx how much cereal and how many oz of formula to mix, and do you give this once a day? TIA!

I didn't give it until 6 months, but the first time I gave it I followed the directions on the box of oatmeal for a first feeding. It said one teaspoon of oatmeal and 4 teaspoons of formula or bm. After that, I never measured, just poured out what looked good and added liquid until it looked right. We added her second meal after a few weeks.
I think solids seems so intimidating before you start. Once you get going, you'll realize it's not an exact science. Just go with what you think is right and what your DC will like.

I'm pretty sure we started with 1 tbsp of cereal with 2 oz. of formula. It should be very soupy at first, just to get them used to the whole spoon feeding thing. I gave it to her once a day at first, then started making it thicker about a month later. She didn't take to it at first. And as a side note - DH takes our DD to all her doctor's appts., and I'm amazed that he doesn't ask questions. I now send him with a paper full of all my questions

It actually says on the box... For gerber at least... I basically started out pretty watery and gradually made it thicker... I started out measuring but there's really no need...

No need to measure, just make it a "thin" consistency at first. It may be a few times before they take to it

At first, make it into a mustard-like consistency
