Can we talk about a PP issue....
Seriously, I had a baby 8 months ago, and I have the WORST hemorrhoids from being pregnant, still. For the most part, they are always there, but totally manageable, but days like today when I am on the go all day long, they get HORRIBLE. I am in so much pain right now. Did this happen to anyone else? Did it ever get better on its own or did you eventually see a Dr?

Just a warning, this response may be considered TMI:
Are yours all inside or do you have prolapsed/outside hemorrhoids as well? I guess I had hemorrhoids before pregnancy but it wasn't really an issue until my 1st trimester when it got bad and by the start of my 2nd trimester, I had prolapsed. So now mine are really terrible. I am only 3.5 months PP, but they actually have seemed to get worse in the past month. I talked to my ob-gyn about it and she said once it happens it usually becomes a lifelong problem and there really isn't much you can do about it. Even with her recommendations of stool softeners, tucks medicated wipes and preparation H... I've had no luck. I'm sorry. It sucks!!!

Re: Can we talk about a PP issue....
I agree with PP DS is 7 months I still deal with them. It has gotten a lot better but every once in a while they start to act up. All you can really do is make sure to eat a lot of fiber, take stoolers, drink lots of water and use prep. H.

I got them really bad when pg with DS and 6 years later they still flare up from time to time it's not often that it bothers me but when it does, it's awful I just try to stay regular and take fiber when constipated

Re: Can we talk about a PP issue....
Mine come and go, but they're not too bad. I pushed out 4 big ones when I delivers my son though! This may be a personal question, but do you wear g-string underwear? Before having kids I wore them daily with pretty much no issue. Now I find that if I wear them too often I will get a hemeroid. So I wear bikini underwear and save the g-strings for outfits that require them.

Re: Can we talk about a PP issue....
Make an appointment with a Gastroenterologist.
The appt will not be pleasant, but the Dr. will let you know how severe your problem is.
You may have to have a colonoscopy. If the hemorrhoids are bad enough, they can be shrunk by laser. This is not a fun experience, because you are awake and they don't numb any thing, but eventually the h-roids will shrink and you poop them out. If they are super big, you might need more than one laser treatment.
Once you have h-roids you are susceptible to getting them again and you need to manage your diet.
I'm not going to lie, the treatment is not fun. However, once you get past it, you'll feel much better and can live hemorrhoid free for a while.

Ugh, so sorry you all have this issue too! I am going to see how this flare up goes and the will probably end up at the Gastro (which sounds horrifying by the way!)

I don't want to scare you! It's just that it's better when you know what to expect. It's a mortifying and humbling experience, but then again so is childbirth, and if you can deliver a baby then going to a gastro doctor is a piece of cake!
