Do you always take your child to the dr if they have a cough?

My 4yo DD almost never gets sick so I dont know what most people do. She has a slight congested cough for about 2 daysnow but seems fine, no fever, no runny nose, sleeping through the night without coughing. I havent seen any infected looking discharge either.

So not sure if this is something most people would see a ped for. So when do you take them in for a cough?

In your case, I would probably wait a few days and see. As long as she's eating and drinking normally and remains as is. You can run a humidifier in the house to see if it helps with the congestion.

First kid: The second he coughed, we were at the doctor. He had baby asthma and it was very serious when he had a cough.

Second kid: I never worry about her cough. She had Pneumonia once. I knew that time was different, bc of my experience wih the first kid.

I never take my DS to the Dr. He is 11 months and has cold with cough all the time cause of daycare. We have only been for one of them because the cough turned croupy

I never do. But unless he is lethargic with a fever for more than 3 days, I never go anyway!

Never. Unless she has a fever with it.
She gets coughs every single time she gets a cold- usually due to a post nasal drip
And the cough will go on for WEEKS after the cold leaves- only at night.
We used to go, but every time was the same thing- post nasal drip, not in the lungs, give benadryl
So I kind of know the drill now

I usually call when symptoms persist for a few days. They always tell me what do do over the phone rather than have him come in.
