how long till they went back to normal?

Mine are up about 2 sizes by now. I just bought a pair of slippers to wear in the hospital in my old size and it was a joke trying to see if they'd fit. I'm wondering how long it will take for them to come back to normal (please tell me they actually will!)

On another note, I'm actually afraid my feet are going to explode, flesh and all because they look like balloons.

Re: if your feet swelled during pregnancy

My baby is now 10 months. After birth they were still very swollen for a while. Not sure how long. and although now they look not swollen and more normal they are still bigger. I was an 8.5 wide and now I am a 9 wide wide :( I finally caved and bought some shoes this weekend when I realized my old shoes (some brand new) will never fit. I am still 15 lbs away from pre preg weight and 35 from honeymoon weight. I wonder if I loose weight my feet will shrink too?

good luck - everyone is different - hope your feet go back to normal!

My feet were even more swollen ( by a lot) right after I had DD but it didn't take too long to get back to size but don't remember exactly how long.

My feet were extremely swollen during my pregnancy. I think they went back to normal about 3 weeks after having DS

My feet were super swollen with my first DD. I felt like you - that they were going to explode! Stated at about 24 weeks and no amount of rest or putting my feet up helped. Took about 2 weeks to go back down to normal after I had her, and I did go up half a size in my shoes, and that never went back.

No swelling with DD#2 and no change in shoe size.

Took 2 to 3 weeks with my twins.
My foot also grew a half size. Most of my shoes do not fit me anymore.

Re: if your feet swelled during pregnancy

My feet were much worse after I gave birth although I didn't think that would be possible. Literally felt like sausage bursting out of the casing (weird analogy but I'm sure someone can relate). God they were so so so bad I remember thinking that I needed to go to the emergency room but I was assured by a trusted nurse that it was normal considering what I went through. It took a couple of weeks for my feet to go back to normal, but i'm a 1/2 size larger now (longer not wider, I do not have clown feet. not that there's anything wrong with that).

Did I mention how awful it was?

Yes your feet will go back to normal, promise. Chat Icon

my feet got super swollen from preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome - but believe it or not they were like 10x more swollen a week after my c-section..i seriously feared something was wrong with me. it did go back down and my feet are back to normal. probably took about two weeks.

Mine started to go back, exactly a week after. I only know because a week after DD was born was Easter...and I could put shoes and my wedding rings on for the first time!!! I was so happy!

Re: if your feet swelled during pregnancy

My feet were the WORST.
For months before I was due.
Like my second tri on.
By the end, I could only wear flip flops- and even those barely fit.
It was truly disturbing and I know what you mean about feeling like your feet are going to explode. They actually hurt.
Nothing helped either...elevating them, icing them, reducing sodium, drinking tons of water. Nothing.

During delivery they pump you so full of IV fluid that it actually gets worse.
But I would say by less than a week PP my feet were beautifully back to normal.
I was peeing like crazy- like I would just sit on the toilet for like 15 minutes peeing. Chat Icon
I remember calling my mom, all excited that I could see my ankle and feet bones again after so many months!
My feet actually looked freakishly thin- but I think that was becuase I was so used to seeing them swollen for so long I forgot how they looked normal!

My feet were pretty darn swollen when I gave birth (4 weeks early) and they stayed that way for a while. I was normally a 7.5 and went up to an 8 during/after. Almost 4 years later, I can only fit into some size 7.5 since losing 25lbs.

Re: if your feet swelled during pregnancy

My feet were huge. People used to ask me about them with concern. They went down a little bit right after DD was born, and then were back to normal after a week or two.

This was me, exactly, but they didn't really get worse after DD was born. I peed so much the next day or two that I lost a lot of the fluid.

I recently looked at a picture I took of my feet on my due date last year (in August), and I was horrified. I remember them being bad, but... they were so, so, so gross.

They started to look like normal feet again less than 2 weeks later. Pretty soon after that they were back to normal except about half a size bigger. I can still fit into most of my sneakers but none of my dress shoes.

Oh, and your fun fact of the day: you know how your feet get bigger when you're pregnant and they stay bigger forever? Yeah, so do your fingers. Prepare to get your rings re-sized. I don't know why this is a huge secret, but no one tells you. And then when it happens, most women you know will tell you it happened to them too.

My feet were ridiculously swollen & after delivery they got worse bc of all the fluids they gave me in hospital! I'd say after about a week they started going down. My feet r permanently bigger though! I used go be a size 6.5 & now I'm a 7 Chat Icon
