Re: Cliff's Notes Spinoff

never.

I'm a reader

ETA: That's not entirely true, I did use spark notes in college to BS in class when i realized an hour before that I had not done the reading.

Re: Cliff's Notes Spinoff

i might be a dummy, but i found the cliffs notes harder to follow then the actual book. it was easier to read "lord of the flies" or whatever, then read the appreviated version

I worked at Pathmark during HS and there was a store right there that sold them. My girlfriends and I would take turns buying them and share.

I did a few times. I remember having my friends explain Beowulf & the Canterbury Tales out of them in the bar in college. I found them helpful. I only got a B. It could be that by the time I got home, I only had a few hours until my finals, so it was still fresh in my mind.Chat Icon

Re: Cliff's Notes Spinoff

Only for Moby ****.

It was the only book I truly could not get into.

I wanted to know why a white whale couldn't just be a damn whale instead of everything having to SYMBOLIZE something else the whole book.

It is possible that Melville wasn't that sophisticated and years of English teachers have been reading waaaaaay too much into it. Chat Icon

Sorry....I really hated Moby ****. Chat Icon

I used to love the shakespsear books where on the opposing pages they gave a defintition of unfamiliar words and phrases and sometimes a synopsis of what was happenning on the page. It really aided my early understanding of shakespeare

Re: Cliff's Notes Spinoff

Yes, but the teachers were smart and knew not to ask questions that were in the Cliffs Notes.
