Throwing up due to post nasal drip?
DS (4 y/o) is waking up night after night throwing up from what we think it just post nasal drip. Like its gagging him which makes him throw up. This is like the 5th time in two weeks, so I have had it by now!! He is not sick otherwise, so this is what we think must be going on. I am going to my parents brand new house next week and I cannot have him puking during the night!
Anyone deal with this? What do I do?
p.s. and he has bad diarrhea too which again, we think is from post nasal boogies in his tummy

Re: Throwing up due to post nasal drip?
I could see gagging on mucus dripping, but gonna be honest, I have never ever heard of diarrhea from a post nasal drip. Maybe it's a mild stomach bug or a digestive issue with a food or med, unrelated to the drip.

for two weeks? He is totally fine otherwise. Walks away acting normal! No fever, nothing!
ETA: I figured the diarreah is just like with babies when they have extra saliva from teething it makes them have bad poops and diaper rash.

Throwing up due to post nasal drip?
We go through spurts of this with my oldest DD although usually due to the onset of a mild cold. Does he have allergies? Have you tried giving him an antihistamine before bed? They make a children's zyrtec. You can also try some saline nasal spray to see if you can clear out his nasal passageway. Also we prop DD up on two pillows. We also keep a small cup of water at her bedside to help with coughing fits. If none of this helps I would consult with your pedi or perhaps an allergist?

Re: Throwing up due to post nasal drip?
DD usually coughs so hard from it that she pukes. My ped said to give her benadryl before bed and it works great to dry up the drip

Re: Throwing up due to post nasal drip?
The vomiting happens with 2 of my kids when they have post nasal drips. My kids are younger though...16 months. The doctor told me to elevate their mattress. That seems to really help. Also we give Benadryl if its really bad to help dry it up. Hope it gets better soon

Re: Throwing up due to post nasal drip?
How often do you give Benadry? Every night?
I was thinking of doing this and how that 2 ppl posted it, it seems like a good idea.

Re: Throwing up due to post nasal drip?
We go through this with my oldest DS who is 3. He will gag from the post nasal drip which in turn makes him puke up straight mucus. It only happens if he lies down for naps or bed.
I usually give him Benadryl throughout the day to dry him up, elevate his head ith 2 pillows, run a cool mist humidifier on high, vicks vapor rub on his chest.

I would give it to her for a few nights in a row- maybe 2-3 then I try a night without it and see how it goes. It usually dries it up fast
