All of the above. The toys are out of control and on all three levels of the house.

We have an informal living room with a play area. We have an open floor plan though so toys usually end up everywhere.

Mix of the living room and den. Hoping to do a basement reno in the next few years when DC will be old enough to play without constant supervision.

Mostly in the living room. He needs constant supervision (14 mos) & that's where the couch is!

Right now they usually take the toys out of their playroom and bring them to the living room.
or they play downstairs in their playroom but usually do the same down there.

We limit the toys and keep them in the living room. We rotate them. We can't sit and watch the kids upstairs!

Living room and basement.
We finished the basement so that it could be the play area for our kids. The LR still has toys for when we are upstairs and in the mornings before work, but the basement is where he spends most of his time on the weekends.
He doesn't really play in his room. There are a few books in there, but not many toys.

we just moved into our house. DD has a playroom downstairs but she hasnt really played with her toys in there she will take them out and play in the living room. I dont mind cause by the end of the day all the toys go back into the playroom!
The goal is to finish the basement and make the playroom/hang out room.

Other: Everywhere.
Living room is the main area for all crafts and board games but she has this spot next to the table she likes to have 'shows' in and the kitchen has her table plus lets not forget her 'oven' in our bedroom (aka empty entertainment cabinets), her bedroom is just wall to wall stuff and my brother's bedroom (as its empty) is her alternate 'viewing' area with its spare TV, she has blankets and a pillow in there plus her army men.
So lets see what's left? Oh her bathroom with all its bath toys and our bathroom with her step stool and toothbrushing stuff. The back porch with chalk, the front porch with the other chalks - along with the full driveway and the garage where she likes to dig through the stuff. And of course back 'yard' has the flowers, slide and mini house.
Not a SINGLE room in (or out) of my home is off limits to this kiddo. She has total freedom. Sure my house is a mess, but its fun! LOL (or least I keep saying that)
I guess thats why she says Home Safe and Sound.

As of now, DD plays in the Living Room because that is where her toys are.
Once we finish the upstairs and turn her downstairs bedroom into a playroom I am really hoping she will play in there because that is where all of her toys will be. I'll bet money that she will still play in the living room because she likes to play with Mommy and Daddy.
