This is the updated info. They've only been there for an hour and are open until 7pm.
The American Red Cross in Greater New York is set up in Cedar Creek Park on Merrick Road in Wantagh. They have food. Cold lunches consisting of sandwiches, fruit, coffee, milk and OJ. You take what you need and they have bags of the same for you to take for neighbors. They also serve hot dinners from 4 to 7pm. They also have information to businesses providing free hair wash and dry, showers, charging stations and computers available to use to get on Internet.

Re: Red Cross on Long Island...someone posted this on FB
I have gone to Cedar Creek and there is a lot of food there. The other day they gave my husband a box of oranges to give out to our neighbors. They were trying to give food to many people to take back to their neighbors. Please go if you need to! The food is there. I know they are also trying to deliver more food to neighborhoods because many people cannot come to them because of the gas problems.

I was sorry b/c it's unlike me to be snarky. However, I keep seeing false information being spread about this, on here and on FB. And it was posted here like 2 hours before you posted it.
I'm concerned because if people see this false information that the RedCross is throwing out food that could be used to feed others, it may prevent people from donating since they'll think it's wasteful. I get that you were trying to be helpful.
