Help! Tips to get DS to nap in his crib.
DS is great at STTN in his crib. Goes down at night for 10-11hrs but if I put him to nap in his crib he goes into a full blown cry fest as soon as he hits the crib BUT if I put him in his swing he naps for 1-2hrs. I dont get it. Anyone have any tips? I dont mind him napping in his swing but hes obviously going to outgrow it soon and then I'll be screwed.

Help! Tips to get DS to nap in his crib.
Sometimes my dd has a hard time settling down for a nap in her crib. Usually I sit there with her and rub her back, "shhh" her, turn on her mobile and usually she calms down and falls alseep. She tends to sleep longer in her crib than in her swing so I try to always get her into the crib.

We have a white noise machine and a fp soothe and glow seahorse. I really think the seahorse is amazing. It plays lullabies for 5 min and has a little light, both of which gently fade away at the end. It was so helpful for distracting DD when she was first sleeping in the crib and really helped her settle down. At first I would stay in the room and pat her belly if she got upset. Now I pretty much put her down and go right out. She cries till I shut the door and usually once I'm gone she stops.
Once in a while she's hard to put down. I just take her out of the room and distract her. I'll try again 10-15 minutes later and keep trying until she finally goes down.

I second the seahorse. DD will be interested in the seahorse and then she's out. Also I have a baby glo worm but it doesn't play as long

Do you use the same routine for naptime as you do for bedtime? If not, I would try that. Our bedtime routine (for both our boys) has always been: swaddle (or sleep sack when they got older), turn on white noise, nurse, read a few books (sometimes reading and feeding would be reversed based on how hungry they were lol), lights out, sing a song or 2 while rocking, into the crib. Whatever your routine is, I recommend keeping the same one for naptime. Also, I'd recommend trying to keep it as dark as you can in the room during naptime. HTH!
