Re: How are you preparing?Sandy
We have tons of water. Maybe 8 gallons, but we always have a lot bc we drink a lot. Just bought a few more gallons.
Got a few gallons of gas tanks filled for our generator.
Everyhing in the back is winterized already, but put the mums together in the corner and put away all Halloween decorations.
Tied the grill to the deck
Have plenty of food bc we will hook the fridge to the generator if needed.
Fill up the bath with water.
I plan on having the boys still sleep in their rooms. We don't have any trees right by the house so that should be fine and I want to keep things as normal as possible in getting them to sleep. I have a 1 and 3 yr old.
Took out plenty of flashlights and batteries. Took out plenty of extension cords for the generator.

Re: How are you preparing?Sandy
I have the 32 oz containers of rtf formula but I also have the 8 oz bottles of rtf in case we lose power. I have enough of the small bottles for two days but have enough of the larger containers. for a while. I have enough jarred food and yogurt/oatmeal for a couple of weeks (I usually keep that much in the house though). I also have mum mums and puffs. I'm not worried about running out of food. I am going to bring the pnp to the basement and we will sleep there tomorrow night. I'm sure we would be fine upstairs but why take the chance?

Why fill up the baths with water I am confused? Also, I was planning to give god baths to DC tomorrow afternoon...the storm is supposed to get bad late afternoon tomorrow, right? I figure the power won't go out until earliest late tom night?

You fill the tub with water in case the water supply becomes tainted (sinks, etc..) You can use that water too!

Fill up the bath with water.
I.
Erica, please please be careful with this. Anyone with children or pets should probably not do this. In the event of chaos, or confusion, or just an accident in general, having a filled up tub with kids or pets in the house is a bigger risk than having no water. kwim? JMO anyway
I personally would rather have no water to flush my toilet than risk my child or pets drowning

I appreciate the concern and understand. The bath we will fill in nowhere near the kids and can be locked. We can use the basement tub. We have a full bathroom in the basement and two full bathrooms upstairs that we will not fill the bath upstairs bc of the kids. There is a locked gate to the basement that they can't go down without an adult.

Thanks for understanding. I see. I just wanted to point it out in case others with pets or children did not think of the devastating possibility that could occur if they filled their tub and a child or pet gains access.

Stocked up on plenty of water, shelf stable milk, bread, cereal, cereal bars, yogurt smoothie and food pouches, and other foods. Took everything in from outside, filled up the gas tanks in the cars, took money out of the bank, and pulled all of the candles, flashlights and batteries out. Also pulled out some extra blankets in case we need them.
