3s are worse then terrible 2s...
Ugh, sorry if this a vent but I'm realizing how much harder the 3s are compared to 2s. My 3 yr old was never a tantrum thrower until he hit 3. Now even running to the store has become a headache.
Just now I ran to get cold medicine & he screamed & tantrumed throughout the store to the point that I just left. He has a full vocabulary & very bright boy but I just don't get it. Is this normal? At times, my 2 year old acts more mature.

Ahhhh, yes. Many a thread on this. No one ever tells you this little tidbit. It was especially brutal with my 2nd--although my 3rd is only just turning 2 this week.

I've heard this from everybody and low and behold they were right on. About a few months before DD turned 3 it was like a new kid . These days, almost EVERYTHING can be a battle. It's been interesting to say the least  .

I still think the 3's are easier than the 2's.
Sure, 3yo DS does play mind games and tests us but he still plays well on his own and we don't need to follow him around in fear of his safety.
My 18m old is so accident prone right now. I can't wait until he turns 3!

Yes. My son was amazing at 2. Such a pleasure to be around.
At 3 he's so much more defiant and tests his limits every day. For most of the day, he's great. Same easy-going boy. But when he gets something in his head about what what he wants, he is so stubborn. Yelling, screaming, demanding, hitting.
I know it's a learning process for me and for him. He's trying to see how far he can push us. We have to be firm. But when he's being so bratty, it's hard to be the calm, rationale adult. We've been in many stores lately where he's decided to demand for certain things and throws a fit when he doesn't get his way. It's not as easy as it used to be. 
Age 3 is definitely a different ballgame then 2.

Yes. My DD will be turning 3 in December and is driving me bananas. She was a sweetheart throughout her 2's but not so much now. Don't know why they call it terrible 2's. I think 3 are the worst.

OK so from what I am reading, kids who were generally great at 2 turn bad at 3.
So maybe my DD will be great at 3 because she is awful at 2.

I was just thinking this!
After several parents told me that if I thought the 2's were bad, that I should wait till the 3's where it's worse, I hold on to the hope that BECAUSE DD is so infuriatingly horrible at 2 she'll be a angel at 3.

Same here.
The not listening, backtalk, testing boundaries.
I tell her to do something & she just stands there and gives me this look.
How are you handling this ?
This is all new territory....she was an angel up until 2 months ago.
I'm kinda terrified, I think she can see it too
She imitated me the other day, finger shake, head nod "you need to listen, I told you I needed milk. You need to listen to me the first time I say something."
Almost fell over!! My DH had to leave the room. He was about to laugh.

I seriously thought DS was possessed...that's how much he's changed. I was tempted to get his exorcised
Everything is a battle. Getting dressed for school, eating, napping, bed time, you name it.
I actually recorded him one time - remember the banana thread on FHF? Well, I said no to a banana & he went on this CRAZY rampage for almost 2 hours. That carried on from the store, to the car, the driveway, the front porch, the house....

LOL - DS is the same way - I hear things I say to him - come right back at me..
"Watch your mouth" "Don't say that word" (Meanwhile I said Cat or something so generic )

Yeah - I thought the 2's were bad when I was in them...Now I want to run & hide under my bed. I think looking back now - the 2's were a breeze.

We've had those 2 hr ordeals too especially when he asks for like a cookie t 7am...bedtime just in the past 2 weeks has become insane....I said to DH "was DS possessed while we were sleeping"

Well, my DD wasn't exactly great at 2, but in retrospect now that she's almost 4, she was an ANGEL at 2 compared to what 3 has been like.
if it's any indication as to what puberty and beyond is going to be like I need to start drinking NOW

I was just thinking this!
