Where did you take LO for swimming lessons? And at what age did you start?
Thanks.

Re: swimming lessons
Ds started the mommy and me swim at saf t swim when he was 5 months old. It was a six week class and we took the next level class after that for another six weeks, also a mommy and me. After that we took a break until he turned two. We signed up for 15 months of one on one lessons at saf t swim when he turned two, its a half hour a week every week. I didn't like the first session because the pool was packed with lessons, barely a spare space for swimming and so many distractions and he cried the whole time. He had a different instructor one of those classes and did so much better so for the second session we decided to go with him. Now things are better. The instructor is actually teaching him rather than chatting with the other instructors in the pool like the other girl who btw was around 15. The pool isn't as packed because school started up again and we are in a 3:30 time slot so most can't make it that early because of school. I have heard better things about World Gym in Wantagh and their swim program. I called to get some info and she said they don't start one on one until three years old so that was out for us but we will switch as soon as are done our sessions and ds will be just over three so it works out perfect. The lessons at World Gym are taught so your child is the only one in the pool. The instructors use the Red Cross method which I am told is better.

Re: swimming lessons
My oldest started the summer before she turned 4. We still go to saf-t-swim in bellmore. She's swimming complelty independently now. But she's been in a pool her whole life. Between my parents house, the pool at the beach, and saf-t-swim she's complelty comfortable in the water.
She's never in a pool by herself, but can swim on her own. I'll probably start my youngest next summer. If it was cheaper I'd have her in now.
