Help dress me for my engagement pics!

Hello my fashionistas!

So Dec. 1st is when we are doing e-pics. Help! We are doing them in Red Hook so they will be outside and I'm sure it will be freezing. LOL. I need a new coat, boots and pretty much everything. Chat Icon
My photographer is primarily a fashion photographer so he is VERY into clothes and accessories. He gave me a guideline of what to wear. I'm scared! LOL.

His tips:
Forms fitting clothes. Solid colors and accessorize!

I'm usually a very casual person. In cold weather, I'm a long sweater cardigan and tank with UGGs girl. I LOVE scarves. I wear them as often as I can as an accessory.

Help me, help me!!

I love this coat but with DD's, I'm not sure it will look good on me. Chat Icon

Re: Help dress me for my engagement pics!

do you have a peacoat?

I would do a peacoat (black or brown)
with a scarf w/leggings, some riding boots.

or skinny jeans and some nice pumps?

ETA: I like this color-
ON- and they are doing 30% off now.

You rock! I'm not sure I can pull off that color. I'm so pale. LOL.
I really love those boots and that scarf though!

I LOVE the coat you posted. Would do that with dark skinny jeans. A colorful scarf and colorful heels. The boots are a good idea too.Chat Icon

Re: Help dress me for my engagement pics!

I don't think that style coat is going to look the best with a large chest because it's going to be fitted across the chest and then "balloon out" (the swingy style of it), making you look bigger than you are. I think any coat should be slim fitting in the middle or belted.

You are right. Bummer for me. LOL. One thing the photographer said is nothing loose. He wants everything to be fitted. And like you said, with a big chest, it won't be pretty.

I like This Peacoat in white...with skinny jeans and riding boots or a fun colored heel. I like the white/cream colored wool coat idea and you could do any color scarf with it.

How about a blazer with skinny jeans, a scarf, and riding boots? You can keep it open or closed.

i agree, i think a coat with a tie at the waist would look best with a larger chest.

I like the coat on the left, but I would do either the coat or scarf (or both) in a brighter color - something that will be eye catching in the photos and not just all blend together.

Good point! Chat Icon
I actually like the coat on the left better too! How about a scarf this color? Is that too dull?

Help dress me for my engagement pics!

I think a green peacoat, brown riding boots, skinny jeans and a neutral pattern scarf would look great.

I'm not a fan of the coats you posted just because I think unstructured belted coats don't fit me right and don't seem fitted enough. Maybe a belted peacoat?

Ahh, ok. I see what you mean. Peacoats are tapered at the waist, I guess.
I actually like the idea of a green coat. Something different from my usual black or gray.
Thanks!

This one is from American Eagle.
It says "olive" but it looks kinda brown, no?

I think that is a really great coat! I also am large chested so that's why I don;t like the looser coats. I think this with a nice printed scarf would look awesome. Very seasonal with out having jingle bells in your ears and yet enough like you that it doesn't seem like you're someone else. KWIM?

Help dress me for my engagement pics!

id stick with basic colors- dark wash skinny jeans, a white button down and a fitted black blazer and black riding boots - then I guess you can add some pop with an bright color infinity scarf or chunky necklace- have your fh wear plain black and white- or gray as well. you want the focus to be on you guys

Re: Help dress me for my engagement pics!

Just as an aside, I got a yellow coat @ ON last season and it doesn't look anything like the yellow in the pic. It's a lot brighter/fluroescent if that makes sense.

I only got it because it was super cheap and don't really wear it much because I'm not crazy about the shade of yellow.

Maybe they've changed this season but experience has shown that a lot of their coat colors do not match up in person.

And I also agree with this.

I'd be too nervous spending money on forever pics and then the outfit looked off because of the coloring.

Sweater dresses don't work for me. Too much boobs and booty. LOL.

LOL. I wasn't planning on getting my makeup done. I'm just getting my color (hair) done before that day and doing my own makeup.

I totally agree- that first jacket won't work. I love it though! As far as colors- Victoria' Secret has some colorful peacoats (tons of different cuts and lengths) on their site and most are pretty inexpensive. I've gotten a coat from there and loved it, too.

I love this one:

And just my two cents, I think you should think about getting your make-up done. If you've already booked your MUA for your wedding, you can treat this as a trial or maybe they'll just give you a discount since you're a repeat customer. Even just going to MAC or Sephora would be worth it. Pro pics just show so much more than a regular photo does. Just remember they're going to be all up in your grill!
