6 months, no sippy, we went with the straw cup with handles. I'd say it took her a couple of weeks to get the hang of it. We used/still use the playtex lil grippers straw cups.

6 months tommee tippee soft spout sippy cups -- we offered it to him with water in it all day long. didn't take him long to get the hang of it and by 1 year he was done with bottles
