CS moms - scar Q and curious about something
I had a CS a month ago, my OB performed the surgery and had a resident helping her, when they finished and were stitching me up I could see above, in the reflection that they were both doing it, the resident on the left and the dr on the right. Well since they took the strips off 4 weeks ago I niticed that the scar and the area around it looks different on each side. Left side of the scar (the side the resident did) is barely noticable , very smooth and looks so good , doesn't hurt and the area around it looks great. The side my OB did - not so much, the stitching looks very rough and not smooth, almost like it was done in a rush or something, plus the area around is more swallen or something, hard to explain, hurts more too. Wondering if anyone has or had the same thing happen ? With my first CS I had lots of issues with my incision , I ended up getting shots in it bc I had keloid (spl) , but I know that my OB at that time did the stitching alone. I made it very clear to my current OB that I had LOTS of issues with my CS scar over the years and I was hoping to have everything fixed this time around ( one of the reasons I decided to go with another CS ) ... Is this something doctors do - have a resident help them during stitching? Also if you had a similar experience with your incision, how long did it take for it to start looking not so scary ? Thanks

Re: CS moms - scar Q and curious about something
I did not have a c-section but with my first I had some tearing that required 3 stitches and the resident did them with my ob helping her.

Re: CS moms - scar Q and curious about something
I had a c-section. I couldn't see what my obgyn was doing so I have no idea if my doctor or another doctor stitched me. I do know my scar is extremely crooked. It's so uneven as well, it doesn't go horizontal it goes diagonally. I think it is healing well though, but it still looks like a bad scar to me. Have you tried vitamin E cream? My doctor recommended that to me.

Re: CS moms - scar Q and curious about something
I had a resident do mine (not sure if all or just some). Well towards the end I heard someone say "You should have went this way..." in reference to how he stiched. UGH.
I developed very severe burning and pain on the left side where he ended (search and you will find old posts of mine, lol). OB had nothing to say about it really. But the left side did not feel the same as the right (similar to what you describe). Someone told me that the side they remove the baby from gets stretched out more...and can be more painful, etc. So maybe that was it? Either way, seemed to me the way he ended my csection (inside, not outside), that he pulled everything too tight (hence the burning). It took a LONG LONG time to subside and occasionally (4 years later) it still feels tight and burny...but not often.
So maybe it's common for one side to be different than the other?

Re: CS moms - scar Q and curious about something
My obgyn did all of te stitching inside and externally. There was a resident present and I told my doctor I didn't want the resident to do anything so she wasn't allowed to stitch me. My scar is very small and the outer edges on both sides have faded a lot and is barely noticeable. This is after one year. I would be very upset with my obgyn if I were you. You told her your concerns about your scar and she should not have done a rush job and she should have done it all herself.

Re: CS moms - scar Q and curious about something
For my first csection it was an emergency so my dr. was not there. When it came time for my second csection my dr. made a comment about how he will "clean it up a little more this time". I never had any complaints about it before but after seeing what a better job my dr. was able do with it makes me glad my emergency one wasnt my final one. The first time it was raised and a little lumpy at certain spots. Now at only 4 months after it already looks better then when I was 2 years past my first one. It's smooth and even.
So yes it definitely could be because of the 2 different people doing it.
