Is it ok for infants to not each much once in a while?

Today I came home from work and DH tells me DS only ate 6 oz (I got home at 3:30pm) and then I go to BF and he doesnt want. Drinks only a little. Its now almost 5pm and hes probably going on about 7 oz for the day. Chat Icon He is teething so Im thinking maybe that has something to do with it. Its this ok?

When they are teething the sucking hurts their gums so it is very possible that he's not going to eat as much.

ETA - Even when DD isn't teething some days she eats less than other days. So I think that's normal.

Teething can definitely mess them up. I would try to keep offering if you can. Hope he is back to normal soon!!

I agree that teething can mess with their eating because they're more likely to want to chew the nipple than to suck on it.

But if your baby is eating a little, stopping & crying, eating a bit, stopping & crying, it could be a sign of (1) an ear infection brewing (2) cox sackie.

If its one day I wouldn't worry. It's only if DS did that for Moreno would worry.

Yep. My DD barely ate when sick or teething. Doctor always said it was fine as long as she had plenty of wet and poopy diapers. Usually her not eating was our first sign that she was getting a tooth.
