6 month old still waking 1x to eat during night????

He sleeps about 5 to 6 hrs than wakes up to eat and he drinks about 4 oz. I tried letting him cry and pat his back in intervals but it lasted 1 hr & would have continued if I didn't feed him. I really believe he is hungry & not awake for habit. He has sttn on a handful of occasions. Any suggestions??

At 6 months my girls were still waking to eat at night. We ended up ream feeding them so they would not get us up. We would feel them about 10 pm and get them back to bed ASAP. It allowed us and them to sleep through those middle f the night hours.

At 6 months my DS was sometimes waking for a bottle. I got to know which nights it was going to happen based on his day.

If you really think your DC is hungry then there is nothing wrong with giving them a bottle

Is he getting enough milk throughout the day? Maybe try upping how much you are giving him during daytime feedings, especially for that last bottle and see if that helps him sleep longer. My dd is almost 5 months and takes about 25-30 oz per day

DD will be 6 months next week and still wakes 1-2x a night. It's getting a little better but I don't see her going 12 hours any time soon. She nurses well the first time she's up so I don't see any reason not to feed her. If she wakes again, depending on how long it's been I may feed her or I may try not to. I just figure she'll STTN when she's ready, not when a calendar says she should. If DC seems hungry, then I would do exactly what you're doing.

DD was still waking for a bottle at that age.
She kind of dropped it on her own closer to 7 months.

what time does he go down at night?

DD will be 6 months old this week and has her oatmeal around 7 and then her bottle.. at about 8:30 she goes down, and then at about 11 we dream feed her to get her through the rest of the night. I've never not given her that last bottle, so I don't know if she would wake up if I didn't... DD wakes up every morning at 7:30, and we start our routine all over again...

my DS is 6 months and also up 1-2x a night to eat. he goes down at 8:30, up b/w 1 and 2, up for the day at 5:30. right there with you.

i dont believe in CIO when they are hungry, and i do believe my DS too also wants/needs the food.

Thank u all so much. Dream feeding before I go to sleep is a good idea. DD sttn at 5 months 12 hrs ) so this is new for me. I will try the dream feed but do u change their diaper or just feed and back?

At 6 months, DS1 dropped down to waking once per night to nurse. He started STTN at 7 months.

I have no advice, but thank you for this post! My 6 month old is still waking up btwn 2:30-4 am every night to eat and I have to get on the train at 6am to go into the city for work. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one....and that there is hope for a night's rest one day!!

I am so with you! DD is 5 months and still gets up 1x per night to nurse. She's gone a few nights straight through but not often. I nurse her at 7pm and she goes to sleep then she's up anywhere between 1-3am (and up for the day at about 6:30). I assume she's hungry bc I also tried soothing her back to sleep and it doesn't work. I find it so much easier to just spend the 10 minutes nursing her and putting her back down then to try to soothe her back to sleep. Not sure if I'm doing the right thing, but it's working and it truly doesn't bother me. (However, if she gets up before 1am I do not feed her...then I get her to fall back asleep.)

The ped told me to STOP nurising her at night if she's ever slept straight through the night. Well...it just won't work yet.

I too was very spoiled with my first DC. She started STTN at nine weeks with no nighttime feedings. Ah, the memories!

gradually reduce the amount of ounces in that night time bottle. Once my son got down to 2 ounces at night and wasn't even finishing it, it was clear it wasn't about hunger and more for the comfort. Then we did cio.

ETA: i never change the diaper unless there is poop.

DD usually sleeps 8 hours and then will wake to feed but then goes back down for another 3-4 hours. I think at this age it's fine for them to want to feed more, they are still growing a lot.

DD is 7.5 months and still wakes 1-3x a night to eat. we have tried everything in the book- cio, more to eat during the day, cereal in the last bottle, etc.

at 7 months she slept 3 nights in a row for 12 hours! i was ecstatic!! then she got a cold and an ear infection and that went out the window, she was up ALL night for a few days. 2 weeks later we are back to 1-2x a night.

DS sometimes wakes up between 3 and 6 for one feeding.

ETA: He's 9 mos.
I try to give him a full bottle (7 to 8 oz) right before bed and he STTN.

Most times when he wakes in the middle of the night, he's just looking for his paci. I pop it back in and he goes right to sleep.

Lately, I suspect that the heat is drying his throat and he wakes up thirsty...because it happens to me as well.

What time do you give her first and last bottle? I follow the 7 ,11, 3, 7, & 11 feed schedule and it gets DD through the night..

There is hope!! Soon enough you will get your nights rest..

My 18 month old still wakes 1-2 times to nurse, so no real advice from me I figure he will eventually sleep all night
