5 month old - waking at night

My DD had been consistently STTN - well from about 10:30pm to 7-7:30am since just before 3 months old. The last couple of weeks she has started waking more during the night. She had started rolling onto her belly so at first I think that was throwing her off. Now she will roll onto her belly and continue to sleep, so I don't think that is what is waking her. She has been getting up and screaming around 5am for the past few days. She will start fussing in the crib and I will leave her to see if she goes back to sleep, but then she will just start screaming. I try to give her the paci first which doesn't help, then I will try to pick her up and rock her which also doesn't help and as the last resort I will nurse her. She will eat, fall back asleep and I then put her back in the crib.

Has anyone else had their DC around this age change their sleeping pattern? I am hoping it is a phase. or maybe she is teething? but if that was the case would nursing her be enough to put her back to sleep?

Thanks in advance for any advice Chat Icon

That kind of sounds like teething- but what do I know? My DD is almost a year and has no teeth!!!
But it would make sense...

I think teething is the culprit here!! If it is, itll pass in a few days.

We went through this with DS and it started at 4 months. It's probably a combo of her being more mobile and waking herself up and teething. We did some sleep training with DS and he went back to STTN again. He is now just about 6 months. They call is the 4 Month Sleep Regression. Many babies change their sleep pattern at this stage. Some just go back to STTN on their own, and some need a little help like my DS.

Thanks for the advice!

So I guess I will wait it out a little longer and see if it is teething and if she goes back to her older routine. otherwise, maybe I will try some sleep training - I just don't want to let her cry if there is actually something bothering her.

Mine did some teething much later (at 8 months) and did this, but at 3 AM. I have been bringing him into bed with me. I'm sure this is no help... but the crying did NOT go away. He was STTN since 2 months Chat Icon
