moms who delayed and or separated vaccines , please come in
how did you do it? which vaccines did you delay and/or separate, how did you do it ? Is there a website that would be helpful? With my DD we followed the schedule, but with DS I am thinking I'd like to delay or separate some of the vaccines (not 100% decided yet, would have to also discuss with my ped)
Also did they change the vaccination schedule a bit? Or maybe I remember wrong, but from what I remember DD got her first vaccine at 2 weeks old - hep B - and then rest of the vaccines at 1 mo old. DS has his first vaccine this weekend , he'll be 1 month old but he is only getting hep B vaccine.
Thanks

Re: moms who delayed and or separated vaccines , please come in
My ped spreads out the ones in the first 6 months for everyone. So instead of getting 4 shots every other month, he does 2 shots every month. It means more visits, but that was fine with me.
Hep B is sometimes given in the hospital so if you didn't get it there that's probably why they did it at the first visit.
I also decided to delay the MMR just because that's what I felt comfortable with and my ped was 100% fine with it.

My ped doesn't think it's something they need to get right away. So he is supposed to get it this weekend, he'll be 4 weeks. hmm, 2 shots every month instead of 4 every other month makes sense, maybe I will ask my ped if he'll do that

Same here. My ped is really good about spreading them out. I told him I wanted no more then one or two shots a visit and he told me that he will let me know which ones he felt were the important ones at each time and which one or two she should get. I trust his advice on it.

My Ped does the 2 shots every month thing which was great.
I did not want DD getting the MMR and chicken pox at the same time so I delayed the chicken pox. He was fine with that and we'll catch up on it at some point.

Yes they changed the schedule slightly. I use the CDC version like a bible when they try to give her a lot of shots. I’d say See here (with a PDF copy with me) it says BETWEEN this age and that. So I have two months (or 6m or 3yrs) and I’d give her shots through that period but not all at once. A few of them overlapped so I could buy more time.
She's 4 now and has only one of the shots listed 4-6, we will spread them out every 6m from there forward

I think I have a copy of a delayed schedule showing which shots which month. I can e-mail to you if you'd like.

I only gave one shot per visit and delayed the MMR until after the age of 3 and the chicken pox until about 6 months after that. My the time my kids go to school they are caught up.

I wanted to do this with my DD , but we travel overseas to visit my family so we felt like we had to give her MMR and chicken pox, so I couldn't really delay them . Now the same thing with my DS, we'll be travelling overseas in spring/summer and I don't feel comfortable not having him vaccinated (my ped highly recommends vacinating befire travelling outside the country) The was a huge outbreake of chicken pox and measles there last year and even though my sister's kids are both vacinated they both got chicken pox and measles. So now of course I am even more scared and worried to delay them / space them out too much.
