Not walking at 15.5 months
DS is still not walking For some reason he is really late with this milestone. He didn't start crawling until 9 months and even that was just the army crawl (on his stomach) until he was 14 months old. (Around 1 year because he was not crawling typically, the ped. said he noted weak muscle tone in his legs and recommended the jumperoo which we did for a month or so... he's over the weight limit for it now.) then finally he is crawling typically. He can pull himself up to stand and get himself down from standing. He will also "walk" when holding on to the couch. Will not walk with walking toys. Kneels down right away instead of pushing it to walk.
Pediatrician said if he is not walking by 17 months to call him and we'll evaluate and send him to someone. Otherwise, he is not worried about him at all. Very alert, has 3 words, very happy, engages well (goes to anyone), plays appropriately, etc.
Has anyone had such a late walker? When did they walk? As a mom and a teacher, I KNOW he will do it when he's ready, but I am still a little worried. All the other babies his age (he has 2 cousins and a friend all within 3 weeks of his birthday) have all been walking for more than 2 months now. thoughts?

Not walking at 15.5 months
My daughter wasn't crawling, pulling up or walking at 1 year. We went to PT and in 1 month she was crawling, pulling up and cruising, but not walking. We left PT at 15 months and at 17 months she walked. My MIL bought some stacking blocks she loved to knock down so one day I pushed everything away from her and stacked them in the middle of the livingroom. She wanted them so bad she just walked right over to knock them down lol. I was a worried mess about it and we even had special foot braces made for her that she wore once the day before and then she walked. What a waste of $300, but in a good way! My son is 10 months and only army crawling...I think some kids are just slower in some areas. My daughter was always advanced for fine motor skills, and verbal but slower in the gross motor. My nephew who is only 1 month younger didn't speak until almost 1.5, but was running and very advanced in gross motor way before his 1st birthday. My advice is that if you are concerned get help. You know it can take time, but if you want or need help get it. I learned so much from taking her to PT and it was so worth it!

Re: Not walking at 15.5 months
DS is 15 months today and not walking, but I'm not worried. He's strong, a fast crawler, pulls himself and cruises holding onto things. DS 1 walked just at 15 months and never went back to crawling. My 15 month old did some things later, but for some reason I'm not worried yet. Once he got it then he had no issues. Didn't sit on his own till 8 months, crawled at 10 months an holding himself up on things around 13 months. Usually the Ped worries around 17 months. Just keep doing what you're doing. Encouraging walking, holding his hands to try and walk, standing, etc. Give him some time. He will get it.

Re: Not walking at 15.5 months
My twins walked at 16 months and and 17.5 months. They had no developmental issues at all.
My younger DD was not doing anything but sitting at around 10 months. Not rolling, not crawling, not pulling up, nothing. If I sat her down in one place she would stay there until I came and picked her up. She was evaluated by EI and qualified for PT two times a week. It started when she was about 12 months. Within a few weeks she was crawling. Within two months she was pulling up and cruising. At 17 months she started walking. After 6 months of PT she no longer qualified for EI.
ETA: Your DS is pulling up and cruising, so he is doing fine. Typically if a child is not walking by 18 months they can qualify for EI. I don't think your DS would at this point.

Not walking at 15.5 months
DD just started walking this month and she will be 17m on Sunday. she was a preemie though so her adjusted age she started walking at 14m. she crawled a little late - full on crawling at 11m. cruised for about 2-3m, and finally started really walking this month.

Re: Not walking at 15.5 months
Every baby is so different. My DS sat up at 5 or 6 months, crawled at 8, walked at 10 and was running everywhere shortly after that.
My DD - wasn't even totally sitting up at 1 year (still had to stay by her because she would fall over sometimes), crawled late, and finally walked at 17 months. Now, at 2 years, her gross motor skills are just fine. She can do stairs, jumps, etc.
My DC are different in EVERY other way, too, not just gross motor skills.
I think it's a good thing that your ped is on top of things and keeping an eye on your DS, but I would try not to worry too much yet. It sounds like he is doing fine.
