what would you do for nap time?

DD always fought me for naps (i've been complaining about it on here so most of you know that already.)
I figured if she had a consistent schedule, it might get better so for the last 3 weeks, she has been taking 1 long nap after lunch.
That part is great but the bad part is that I have to drive her around to get her to sleep.
I thought that once we got on a schedule she may go down if put her in her crib (after quiet time, a book & a little rocking) but I tried it today & it was a full out battle!
Screaming, throwing everything out of the crib, trying to climb out. I wound up rocking her to sleep but it took an hour Chat Icon
Is she just too old to train to nap on her own at this point? (she's 14 months)
Would you just keep driving her around because it's easier or keep putting her in her crib until she understands nap time?
I feel like I'm torturing her either wayChat Icon

Is she overtired? When my DD was 14 months she was still taking two naps: 10-12 and 3:30-5.

When you drive her around, does she fall asleep instantly and stay asleep for the transfer?

Have you tried CIO? I was dead against it but my DD is the same age and they're just manipulating us!!!! How long will she cry for if you just let her?

Dd is 21/2 and I rock her to sleep but it takes no more tha. 1/2 hour. We've been doing this forever. She's fine at night but if I don't for naps she won't take one. So my sanity I do it.

I would stop driving her and try rocking her or try rubbing her back.

What if she slept sowewhwrere else. On the floor on some blankets or somewhere special. Maybe a new blanket and pillow to get he rinterested. You will probably need to stay with her and run her but it might be better

I am a CIO person so I would suggest that.
I would not continue to drive her around. Their nap time is my ONLY time to get things done so it is important to me.

She usually falls asleep right away & stays asleep for the transfer.
I felt like she still needed 2 naps but she just stopped taking the afternoon nap & the morning nap was only an hour so she was tired & miserable at the end of the day so I tried it this way.
It just seems like what ever I do is wrong (but I guess that's just the mom guilt)

When she was younger we did it for bed time & after a long 11 nights, it finally worked.
For some reason it just didn't work for naps, she would just cry & cry longer then the nap time.

I tried it once last week & once today & both times she gets herself so worked up that she starts coughing so much it breaks my heart so I went in a bunch of times to calm her down & when it didn't help & I rocked her to sleep after 40 minutes of squirming & fighting me.

By the time I got her to sleep, I feel so beat up & exhausted so it's just easier to drive her around but I know that's not good for her.

It sounds like the nap time CIO isn't consistent. One day last week, once this week...I know it is hard, but for it to work, you need to do it every day. I found when I did CIO for nighttime with my son, if I went in to calm him down, it only made it worse. I just had to suck it up and let him cry.

I also agree that you need to stop with the driving around. Are you going to be doing this when she's 2, 3, 4 years old? The sooner you teach her to nap at home, the better. My son would only nap in his stroller or the car and I wish I had nipped it in the bud before it was too late. It was a nightmare and I was never able to take advantage of naptime to get anything done around the house. Mommy needs some down time too, you know?

True, I haven't been consistent with it recently.
I tried again today & it was a complete failure. She screamed for so long & started falling back (on purpose, I think) & hitting her head on the crib so of course I had to go in. I calmed her down & just sat there while she played in her crib for an hour Chat Icon never falling asleep until I had to run out at 4pm & she fell asleep in the carChat Icon I feel so bad that I got her into this bad habit. I think it's too late to change it now.
