Re: Anyone NOT take narcotics for pain right after c-section?
DS was born at 2:32am. i took one dose of motrin i wanna say around 8 or 9am and that was it. i didnt feel like the motrin did anything and i didnt want to take percoset or anything like that so i just dealt with it.
honestly, laying in bed was fine. it only hurt trying to get up since you are pretty much cut across the middle but since you can move the bed up, it def helped. once i got on my feet i would just take a minute to collect myself before walking slowly. im sure it depends on your threshold for your pain but i think its def do-able

Re: Anyone NOT take narcotics for pain right after c-section?
I took Motrin. That was it, and it was all I needed. I didn't want to take anything stronger bc I was breastfeeding. Even though they said I could have had stronger pain meds and it would be ok, I still didn't trust it.
I just wanted to add that I have a very low threshold for pain, lol. You will be fine

You will take what you end up needing. Nothing to worry about. And you CAN take Percocet while breast feeding. You are giving the child mostly colostrum in the beginning.

Tylenol & Motrin only. It was definitely manageable.

I didn't take anything either. Didn't like the way it made me feel when I took one dose after DD.
I took Motrin and tylenol every time I could and the nurses were really good to me since I was only taking those doses.

Re: Anyone NOT take narcotics for pain right after c-section?
I took the percocet in the hospital - and just took advil at home if I really needed it.
But I am the lunatic that had to be immediatetly out of bed and able to move around like a human - I didn't want help in/out of the bathroom, shower etc - I stay in bed all day and go home and rest (like I probably should have - but I just can't SIT like that)
I'm not a big fan of pain meds b/c they make me a bit loopy - which is why I was only comfortable taking them in the hospital.

Re: Anyone NOT take narcotics for pain right after c-section?
600mg of ibuprofen every 6 hrs = three 200 mg pills every 6 hrs, if the pain is still really bad you can also take Tylenol no later than 1 hour after taking the ibuprofen.
I had spinal and epidural during my surgery, they left epidural needle in for 2 days and I would get a dose every 15 min (if I needed it) just by pushing a button , i mostly used it at night. on top of that they also gave me another pain killer tortal or something like that for 24 hrs the first day bc I was in too much pain, once they took out epidural 2 days later I got Percocet that night and next morning, just one tablet each time, but after that I just took Motrin, once I was discharged I decided I wasn't going to take any more Percocet or any kind of narcotic pain killer since I'm BF and stuck with Motrin. It worked great, didn't even take Tylenol any more, yes I was in pain and still am -it's only been a week- but it's not unbearable so I can deal with it. I ended up taking 600mg of Motrin every 6 hours for 3 days and have been taking 400mg only at night since Thu.
