How long after a c-section
can you drive?
I can't remember.
DH is trying to figure out how much time he should take off work. Any time he can take will be unpaid, but I can't function by myself taking older DD to school and such if I can't drive.... I really don't remember what it was with DD.

My doctor was more concerned with how long I was on paid meds for. She said I could drive a week after the c as long as I wasn't on meds.

How long after a c-section
I want to say 3 weeks. I felt ok for it then I got absent minded and tried to back out of my driveway. That twist to look back reminded me VERY clearly that I was on a hospital bed not that long ago.
As long as I took it easy and gave myself time, I was ok.

Thanks everyone! I seem to remember 3 weeks now... and I'm seeing my OB on Friday, so I'll ask then. Its only a 5 minute drive, but I live in a 3rd floor walk up, so its gonna be a lot to just get out of the apartment with a toddler and newborn!
I remember I wasn't allowed to carry more than 15 lbs with DD, so I couldn't carry her in the infant seat... I guess I'll have to wear DS down the stairs and keep the infant seat in the car. fun!

I was told 2 weeks by bother docs. I had a different doc for each pregnany since we moved.
DS 1 I waited 2 weeksn
DS 2 I drove a week later.
Sched c I recovered much faster and had to start down stuff ASAP since I already had one at home.

The first time I was told 2 weeks. The second time I was told I could drive once I stopped taking pain medication. I still waited 2 weeks though.

My dr told me 2 weeks. It's an insurance issue too, if you drive before the 2 weeks there's still a likelihood that you could be on pain meds, even if you're not. So if you get into an accident it likely you won't be covered or it will be a headache.

Same. 
I think I drove before that with DD, but being in a car was not fun. Every time we hit a bump or stopped too quickly, it was a little awful.

Mine said 2 weeks. I drove at 1. Had to. I was fine a few days after, so it didn't even cross my mind NOT to drive.

I think about a week, possibly less however I had 2 babies in the NICU and I hated being dependent on other people to drive me and DH was working so one day I was like eff this I am driving myself. My doctors told me 2-3 weeks but at my post op appointment I confessed that I drove myself there and the doctor was like do what you have to do. Never realized how many muscles it takes to drive, this was the reason they told me because I wasn't on pain meds.

My doctor never gave me a time frame. For the first one, it was probably around 7 days or so. For my second, I drove on like day 5. Had no choice - I had to get my oldest to school and DH leave at 5:45am.

being that i didnt take any pain meds, i was cleared to drive when i felt like it.
i drove DS to his 1 week appt. it hurt a little but it was do-able
