fungal diaper rash-how long to heal?
DD first went top the dr for this 2 weeks ago.
It's definitely improved but it's still there. Today it got bad after she pooped...she was in so much pain she shaking and screaming while I was trying to change her
How much longer will this take to clear?

My dd's had them a lot and once we used the medicated cream they got better in aweek or so. We keep a dry towel at the changing table to make sure they are completely dry after a diaper change. We also we put a&d ointment on after the medication. Hope she feels better.

Did your ped prescribe Nystatin? That's what we have used the few times our boys had it. It cleared up in a few days. Hope she feels better soon!

With the Nystatin prescription, she was visibly better by the next day. Pain-free in about 2 or 3 days. It took about 10 days for the redness/bumps to all go away, though.
A good tip my ped gave me was not to use wipes on her AT ALL when she's got a bad rash. Use disposable washcloths with water when she poops, and when she just has a pee diaper, don't wipe at all. She's not "dirty" from just pee, and the less you irritate the area, the better.

fungal diaper rash-how long to heal?
My son had a SEVERE horrible diaper rash as a newborn. We tried for a week doing all the different things the pediatrician told us to try. nothing worked. I had enough & went to a dermotolgist who gave us a prescription & was gone in a day. Good luck!! I would suggest that as well.
Also as far as the wipes go, my dermotolgist seems to believe whether you use wipes or not, it doesn't matter. It's the cream...

Nystatin isn't covered by my insurance so DS's ped suggested I get a tube of Lotromin (generic name: Clotrimazole) I put a thin layer with EVERY diaper change and cover with globs of A&D ointment (not rubbing to much so the medicine stays where it should and doesn't get mixed too much) I rinse the baby wipes or just use a wet wash cloth for diaper changes, and dry dry dry after baths.
After about a week the rash is completly healed.

Ww used the OTC Lotrimin cream for about 3 weeks, until it was clearly totally gone.
Skin turned brown once it started to heal, but the brown still meant fungus was there so we kept using it until the skin was normal looking again.

DD gets them pretty frequently. Lotramin AF clears it up in a few days. I use it three times a day for 14 days per the ped.
