SAHM with children in school
Do you volunteer for any PTO stuff? DS is in the local town's preschool. He goes 5 days a week part time. I no longer work and now I'm able to spend time with both boys. I have a 3 yr old and 14 month old. My day does get hectic, but I really do want to get involved with his school so I joined the PTO and somehow during back to school night became the class mom. Lol Anyway. Do you help with PTO stuff? Have you joined the school's PTO?

Re: SAHM with children in school
I'm very involved with my kids' school. In past years I have been a class mom for my older DC. This time I may end up being one for my younger DC's class. There is a big event they hold each year that I do a lot of work on. Last year I chaired a small fundraiser, and will chair another one this year. Also this year I am an officer in their school's PTA, which is a LOT of work (and politics, lol), but I'm really enjoying it.
So yes, I give a lot of my time to volunteering at the school, and to me it's really worth it.

No, and as long as I have DD#2 still at home I can't. You can not bring siblings to a lot of events if you are volunteering, mainly because who would watch them at the school. I also do not have anyone to watch them at home.

Re: SAHM with children in school
I do. Not through their preschool (which is private) but our district, which starts at Kindergarten, has an official Preschool PTA for kids aged 0-5. I'm on the Board. It's actually a great way to meet & get to know the families/kids my kids will eventually be going to school with. Especially since I didn't know any local moms when we moved here.

SAHM with children in school
I'm not a SAHM but yes I am active in our PTA. Have been since its inception 2 yrs ago through its finalization which was last year and this year I'm on the board. Just finished my PTA Leadership Orientation Training no less.
I am always helping out with craft projects, decorations, fundraisers and things like that. This year I am on the board as their Historian. I was offered VP but since AJ won't be there next year I went with Historian instead.
I love being involved.
ETA: we are a private school but still qualified for PTA which was easier for us than PTO for tax reasons.

Re: SAHM with children in school
i am/was very active in all of AJs schools.
he started at 2 and i was involved in a bunch of things with his PTO, DD was only a few months old, so i did what i could do.
then at ages 3-4 he went to another school and i was involved with everything possible, dragging my then 1 year old with me.
at 5 he is now in a new school (public mainstreamed self contained) and i am on the board with SEPTA and i am involved with the PTA (im the SEPTA rep for his PTA, and i am also involved with Coordinating Council PTA) my DD is now 3 and i drag her to everything with me. she is pretty good.
PTA has over taken my life. lol, but since AJ is very communicative, i like to be involved as much as i can.
