Those W/ School Age Children

Did you get your teacher assignments yet? I'm beginning to think my district is the only district that waits until 2 days before school to send the supply list, teacher and bus schedule.

Ours is coming in pieces. A month ago I got to supply list. 2 days ago I got the bus schedule. Still waiting for the teacher assignment.... it's my son's first year. I hope every year isn't going to be like this, I want to be prepared earlier in the summer.

I was told to expect it last week in August

I think most districts do the same thing/same time every year.

Im a planner and I hate having to wait till last minute
I have bought basic supplies but have no specifics yet.

and as far as teacher assignments, Im sure they do it late so moms are not bickering about town all summer -who has what teacher and who said that teacher is terrible and she better request another teacher, blah blah.
what? theyre not in the same class ?

Im SURE this is the reason its done at this time. (I think Im sure )

At orientation, one mom was already whining that one teacher was way too strict for her sensitive son.. and she was going to request to NOT have this teacher.

Growing up, we got our own class assignment in school the last week of school.

We're expecting our teacher assignments next week, I think. We got the bus schedule last week, and the supply lists were sent home the last week of school in June.

You might check your district's website, to see if the supply lists are posted online.

i haven't gotten anything yet.. we usually get it at the last week in August.

I got his with his report card on the last day of school which was a SURPRISE considering I usually got it on the FIRST day of school (the supply list)

We're in queens though so I'm sure the NYC public school system is a tad different from LI

I haven't gotten ANYTHING besides the supply list! No calendar, no teacher assignments...NOTHING!!! I had to email a friend with an older child in the school to find out when school begins!!

No teacher assignment yet, but we get the next year's room number on their last report card. For the mom's who are waiting for the supply lists, have you checked the school's website ?? Its usually posted there.

No supply list on our districts site, blah! But I do see they have the calendar up and holy crap they have like a week off (or almost a week off) in February, March and April and May! TWO spring breaks! Annoying! I don't understand why they just don't shorten the year instead of taking all those days. It makes it really hard on the working parents

We just got his teacher assignment today - so far, out of the three kids he knows entering K, one is not in his class. Still waiting to hear from the other two!
