Would you go back to the dr?
DD (6 years old) woke up Wednesday morning sounding like she had croup. Very low fever, like barely even a fever. I brought her to the very good urgent care place by us because we are in between pediatricians at the moment. They listened to her, diagnosed her with bronchitis (which was weird to me since she was not sick whatsoever prior to waking up that morning) and did a chest X-ray to rule out pneumonia. Prescribed an antibiotic and we went home. Since ten, she has gotten worse. She ran a high fever, like 102 yesterday, but only low grade today. She is extremely congested in her chest, and she sounds like an accordion, she is wheezing so much.
Would you allow the antibiotic a few more days to do its thing? Or would you bring her back to the dr?

Re: Would you go back to the dr?
I would take her back to urgent care of go to the ER. Can you visible see her cheating pulling when she breathes? If so take her immediately. Sounds like she may need a nebulizer. Make sure she is sleeping on an incline.

Never second guess yourself, take her back if you think something is not right. If she is wheezing really badly i would take her to the ER if the urgent care center wont see her.

I would take her somewhere else. Trust your instincts. What can it hurt?

Would you go back to the dr?
I would take her back. My DD had a similar situation. Very low fever, coughing. My DD is prone to wheezing so I put her on the nebulizer right away. Brought her to the ped when the nebulizer didn't help the wheezing. They listened to her lungs and her some crackling on one side. Said it was bronchitis and gave antibiotics and told us to continue the nebulizer. Ped wanted to see us in two days to make sure her Lungs were clearing or sooner if it got worse. Gave the antibiotics, continued meds. The next day she was worse. More wheezing, more coughing, and her temp went up. I brought her in, they listened again, gave her back to back neb treatments and sent her for a chest xray. Final diagnosis, pneumonia. But the ped said we caught it early. She prescribed a different antibiotic and again continue nebulizer. After the first dose DD was a new kid! I forgot what the ped said, I think she said that they can hear it in the lung before they see it on the x-ray. ( I may have that reversed, because I think her x-ray was clear) Went back to ped a week later and DD was perfect. Bottom line, go with your instincts! I hope your dc is feeling better. Went home gave her antibiotics

Re: Would you go back to the dr?
Thank you for all the responses. We decided to do Vicks and some steam, and if she got any worse to take her to the ER. She actually had the best night she had in 3 nights, and was definitely on the mend in the morning.
Thanks again!
