EBF moms of 4-5m olds that pump
How many ounces is your LO taking in their bottles? DS only takes 3oz, but I feel like my older son was taking more at this point...I could be wrong though
ETA: I just searched my old posts & ds1 was taking 5oz per bottle at this point & he was MUCH smaller than ds2 is!

When I would pump and give DD a bottle she really never took more than 3-4 ounces. This held true until she was about 10 months old.

dd is 10.5 months now but pretty much since going back to work at 11wks she never took more than 4oz per bottle at a time. The rule of thumb is one oz per hour not with baby. As long as your ds is growing ok I wouldn't worry!

EBF moms of 4-5m olds that pump
Thanks ladies. He literally wakes up every hour or two at night and even though he doesn't seem hungry every time he gets up, it's got me wondering if he's been eating enough during the day. I might have my mom & dh try increasing him to 4 oz. just to see if he takes/wants/needs it.

DD did the same thing. I think it is because he misses you all day, so he makes up for it by feeding at night. DD didn't STTN until she turned 1!

Dd turned 5m on the 9th and just recently started taking 6oz. She was at 5 oz every 3 hrs for about 6 weeks prior. Before that she was at 4 oz. she started taking pumpe bottles regularly at 3 months when I went back to work

my girls are 1 (9.5 months adjusted) and only take 4 oz at a time. They have been taking that much for months and months.

I left 3 5oz bottles starting at 12 weeks. Around 7 months, he dropped one bottle on his own.

My ped told me the same thing. DS eats three full meals, drinks cows milk and still wakes up to nurse twice a night at 11 months.

DS1 was taking 4 oz at that point. If your DS does not take more and wakes up frequently at night, he could be reverse cycling. Some babies do this when they're away from the mom during the day. You can check out kellymom.com for tips of handling this.

DD doesn't get a bottle often but when she does she finishes 5-6 ounces. I'm surprised she's taking more than most since she's such a peanut (13 pounds at 4.5 months)! She usually nurses 7-8 times a day so I know she doesn't get that much in a typical nursing session.

I never heard the phrase "reverse cycling" before - I'll check out kellymom. Thanks!
Thanks so much everyone! We're trying 4 oz. today to see if that helps. It probably won't since I suspect his waking up is more of an emotional/comfort need than a physical need, but we shall see!

Re: EBF moms of 4-5m olds that pump
I think reverse cycling just may be our problem! He's not getting enough milk during the day so he's nursing/looking to spend time with me at night. Looking back, he went from an EXCELLENT sleeper to the worst there is right around when I went back to work so it makes complete sense
I found out last night that my dh/mom are still using a slow nipple on the bottles, so we're going to try giving him a medium flow one today + 5oz in each of his bottles to see if and/or how much more he takes. Hopefully he starts filling his belly a little more & starts sleeping better. Literally getting up every hour on the hour at night is killing me & every other aspect of my life is suffering because of it...we all need some relief!

This was exactly my son too. But he slept through the night. Guess he just liked to eat lots of small meals often during the day.

EBF moms of 4-5m olds that pump
my DD is 4.5 months and since I went back to work is taking about 6-7oz twice in a bottle and then feeds from me two more times before going to bed. He just started this week waking up once a night for a little food...sooo we are thinking about giving him some cereal throughout the day maybe once or twice to hold him through the night again. He originally was going to sleep at 8:30 and not waking up until 7/8.
