DD is the same age. I'm planning to hold off on solids for a while but I've been reading up. I saw the site wholesomebabyfood.com mentioned a lot so I've checked it out. It has tons of great info.

There is no right schedule. You can pick something and go with it. Just give each new thing at least 3 days to see if they have a reaction. I did rice then oatmeal the fruits and veggies ( whatever I grabbed out of the cabinet). Go with whatever unless your Ped gives you specific directions.

Re: starting food..what was your schedule?
DS is 6 months and we started solids at 4 months per our ped. He gave us a feeding schedule. We started with rice, then oatmeal and then barley. Each of these for a week. Then we started the fruits-apples, pears, bananas, and peaches. Each of those for a week 3 times a day mixed with cereal. We are now on veggies. DS started with carrots last week. We give cereal and fruit for breakfast, carrots and fruit for lunch and cereal, carrots and fruit for dinner. We start sweet potatoes tomorrow following the same schedule as the carrots. Then we will be on squash, green beans and peas. HTH

Re: starting food..what was your schedule?
We got the all clear from our ped at 4 months to start with fruits and veggies 2x a day (he was already/currently still is getting oatmeal in his bottles anyway). We just started with fruits....apples, bananas, peaches, etc....then moved to veggies. Our ped said stick with something for 4 days with no other changes in diet so you know if they have a reaction, exactly what it was in reaction to. After you get thru them and know there aren't any reactions, mix it up. I tend to do a fruit in the morning and a veggie in the afternoon/evening. That's just me though b/c I associate the fruits with more of a morning/early afternoon meal and veggies with dinner type thing. lol
Also, keep an eye out with rice....it tends to bind them so mixing it with apples may keep him more regular. We only did rice for a little while and switched to oatmeal b/c we noticed he was consitpated from it very quickly. Never tried barley b/c I heard it makes them very gassy.

Re: starting food..what was your schedule?
I skipped cereal per my drs rec. we started with a veggie 3 days in a row (1/2 jar at each feeding, breakfast & dinner), Once we got through all veggies we moved onto fruits and we tried oatmeal. Now she has oatmeal and a half jar of fruit mixed for breakfast and 1 jar of vegetables for dinner. It took her about 3 weeks to get through all of them. Shes sti maintains about 30 oz formula. She's 23 weeks.
