sleep help...17 month old

my almost 17 month old son was a great sleeper til he was like 8 months old... then we waited til a year to kinda cry it out, guess it was more ferber method... going in to soothe at intervals.

Worked to get him to go to bed on his own in only 4 days...

now almost 7 months later we can't get him to stay asleep... he wakes up around 11 or 12 am and will only go to bed in our bed

we have tired cio and ferber again when he wakes up, but it hasn't worked... and let me assure you...we really did it and he would just cry cry cry cry forever and never calm back down

We are at our wits end... we need sleep!! Anyone go through this and have advice?

BTW- his isn't hungry, thirsty, scared of dark, sick, teething, or wet/dirty....

Help!!

**Added

we have toyed with the idea of putting him into an extra full bed we have and putting bed rails... we would then be able to try to get him back to see with one of us there in the bed...then at least we would all be sleeping... thoughts? he seems young for a real bed

I was hoping for some responses... I need help too! With my older son, I did some of the No Cry Sleep Solutions book suggestions. Maybe that will help you since CIO doesn't seem to be working? GL!

CIO didn't work for dd after a certain age.

When she does this I just go in her room and rub her back sometimes rock her but never take her out of her room. She has never slept in my bed. Sometimes I just sit there until she falls back asleep. Does he have a favorite toy/animal (appropriate for crib).

You can try the bed but the. Eventually you will have to transition him sleeping without you do I feel like you will be creating another problem in the process of solving one kwim ?

I have tried going in and rubbing his back and it doesn't work for him, thats how we got him to go to bed alone, but for some reaosn it doesn't work after the initial bedtime... he will cry and cry until he is gasping or throwing up...

I don't feel im creating a problem, but trying a new solution...

He isn't attached to any stuffede animals or lovies :(

I did today Jackie, and Logan also climbed over the coach today and onto the side table so we are all in agreement, he is ready for the bed (with rails of course)

Re: sleep help...17 month old

Is he in a crib?

DS is 17 months old, we got him a toddler bed and are transitioning him from our bed into his bed, he still wakes up around 1-2 am and climbs into our bed but he's starting to like his bed. The bed is in our room right now but once he's sleeping through the night he's going into his room.

He is in a crib, will be moving into a bed with rails on Sunday... thats when we can get the mattress from my mils
