How old was your DC on their first long car ride?
I can't really remember- a few weeks old probably? I have a brother in CT and a brother in NJ, both around a 90 minute drive without traffic. We make those trips fairly often. Other than that, I think the first big car trip we did was at 7 mos. when we drove to Boston.

For 90 minutes - both DS were about 3 weeks old. I took them as soon as I felt comfortable driving that long to meet my grandfather.

As an infant she was WAY too colicy to go anywhere. Even the supermarket. It was pretty much screaming 24/7 for the first 6 months! She hated the car- it was God awful.
Same! Only at 13 mos and we installed a DVD player did she actually endure a 2-3 hr road trip. I still don't like taking her for car trips anywhere longer than 20 min, lol!

Re: How old was your DC on their first long car ride?
DD just had her longest car trip labor day weekend from NJ to DC. about 4 1/2 hrs both ways (THANK GOODNESS NO TRAFFIC). She was a week shy of 5 months.
She did pretty good on the way there (slept the first hour, got a bit cranky in the middle so we stopped at a rest stop and she had a dirty diaper, slept on and off the rest of the way).
The way home she was AWESOME! She slept almost the whole way but she was sooo tired poor thing. She had a major meltdown after we checked out of the hotel. We had to stay at my friends place so she could nap for a bit before we hit the road home.
we are taking MIL to vegas for her birthday next month and to thank her for watching the baby and I HOPE dd is as good on the plane ride

DS was 8 days old when we went from NJ to NY. It was slightly less than 2 hours. DD was 18 days old when we drove from NJ to Boston.

Re: How old was your DC on their first long car ride?
DS was about 2.5-3 months. We drove about 3 hours to PA to visit my in-laws. I sat in the back with him and when he woke up to eat I fed him his bottle in the car seat

At 4 months we went to PA for a weekend (about 3 hours). At 5 months we drove to Myrtle Beach, SC. That should be about a 12-14 hour drive (depending on traffic). DS HATES HATES HATES his car seat so I really don't know what we were thinking.....however, he actually did great!!! We left at night for both trips so he ended up falling asleep most of the way. And when he was up, we had the DVD player in the car going with Mickey Mouse....it was a God sent!!!!!
