Re: POLL First Birthday Party - changing the date
i think if you called it a 1 1/2 year birthday i may be ok.
i know DH's family NEVER celebrates birthdays early. they consider it bad luck. to them a party the weekend before is weird- a whole six months? they would never let you live it down.

Yes I'd think it was strange. It's waaaaay after her birthday, not just a few weeks. It would be overall confusing. I know you want an outside party, but maybe then just have a Memorial day BBQ or something.

Re: POLL First Birthday Party - changing the date
Honestly, yes, I would think it was beyond strange. I mean, the point of a birthday party is to celebrate your child's birth-day right? 6 months later you are celebrating it? Not to mention an 18 mo old understands what is going on around them - at least my kids did - how are you going to explain to your child that you are having their birthday party on a day that is no where near their birthday Everyone is singing happy birthday and bringing presents for a pretend birthday I would NOT do it. Have a winter one-derland party and call it a day
You can have any excuse to have a big summer bash in your backyard - I just don't think your December baby's first bday is one that will fly

POLL First Birthday Party - changing the date
I would think it would be very strange. Sorry. Like others have said, there are plenty of excuses to throw a summer backyard party. I wouldn't use your child's 6 months belated birthday as your reason.

Yes, I think it would be very strange.
My boys' birthdays are in March. I also wanted an outdoor party but it is too cold then. We had an indoor birthday party for their birthday party.
We hosted many other parties throughout the spring and summer. I couldn't throw them a birthday party since it wasn't their birthday.

POLL First Birthday Party - changing the date
Yes, as others have said... That's a really odd idea... Your dd was born in dec... You can't just change her bday to June bc it's nicer weather and no major holidays lol. I could see if it was within a month of her bday tops!
