5 month old still waking up to eat?
I know that not all babies sleep through the night. I also dont really want to drive myself crazy as it is what it is...but...
Does anyone else have an issue with their LO waking up three to four times a night to eat? He drinks 4 oz each time and wont take more than that. I have tried to just giving him the binky, thinking that maybe it was just a comfort thing but I think that he is actually hungry. My ped said that in a couple weeks we can start to sleep train, but we HAVE to make sure he is getting enough calories during the day.
I think he is doing most of his eating at night

Have you started food? My DS started waking up less (0-1x a night) once we introduced oatmeal.

Yes, we started rice one month ago, and oatmeal two weeks ago. he gets it once in the morning and once at night.
Doesnt seem to have an effect

5 month old still waking up to eat?
My dd is the same but she is 9 months... She will only take 4 ozs at a time so she NEEDS to have more bottles. Not really much you can do about that I think. My ped told me she needs a certian amount of formula and it may take 4 bottles or 8. So at this point I dont feel like I could even let her cry it out bc she IS hungry and needs to have the formula. The only thing that has helped a little is trying to feed her at least 6 oz right before bed and the first time she wakes at night. Sometimes, bc she is still so sleepy, she will take all 6 oz and go longer. Good Luck!
ps my DD is on all table food and eats that like a champ - still wakes at night at least 2x hungry. Bc she drinks her formula in small oz's

My first DS woke up a lot like that so I know how it feels. He only drank 4 oz bottles as well but, he had some gas issues and whatnot as well.

Re: 5 month old still waking up to eat?
How often is he having a bottle?
DD takes 6 oz every 4 hours 5x per day. Our ped said she has to get a total of 30 oz per day. Maybe try stretching the feedings out a little longer to make him eat more if he's eating less than every 4 hours?

Re: 5 month old still waking up to eat?
When I was home with him he was having a bottle every two or three hours during the day. Now I am not as sure as I am working all day. On the weekends I try to feed him every 2.5 to 3 hrs but a lot of the time he just "snacks" which drives me crazy. i wish I could get him to eat more in one sitting rather than frequent small meals..

Re: 5 month old still waking up to eat?
my 1st did that.
Try to slowly reduce the ounces in his bottles at night and he'll start to eat more during the day. Do 3.5 ounces and then 3-4 days later do 3 ounces and so forth.
Have you tried letting him cry? not for 5-10 minutes or anything like that.
My son at 2 months was waking once a night for a feeding. I gave him his pacifier instead and let him cry one night and it was NOTHING. he barely even cried at all and in 2 minutes he was back asleep.

DD wakes up every 2-3 hours during the night also to feed. I think that get 5:30 wake up is just habit cause she nurses for 4 minutes which is just a snack. II'm dying to break her of it. She's 3months and I can't feed her more than 4 oz either. Dreamfeed also doesn't work for me she's still up on schedule. BF baby.
