to those whose dc had colic

My ds is 4 months now and his colic is much much better. So my question is if ur dc had colic and got better ie no alllll day long screaming... Did u still find ur dc to be high maintanance, poor sleeper and napper and have a clingy personality (not wanting to be put down much)? Trying to figure out what's a normal baby vs still sorta colicky lol. Tia!!!!

Yes. My now 14m old cried a lot (ped said due to the milk allergy) but I think it may also have just been his temperament. He is a high maintenance, slow to warm up, active and poor sleeping toddler. I just think it's his temperament.

Re: to those whose dc had colic

My DS was colic. I thought I was going to lose my mind. He did grow out of it, but at almost 6 years old, he's still high maintenance. He is a great sleeper, but when he's wake it's a different story. We've dealt with tantrums, and still do on a smaller scale. He's very demanding and very selfish. We are constantly reminding him that the world doesn't revolve around him.

Mine was just like that, super colicy until about 4 months (also had reflux) then got progressively better but always high maintenance/extremely fussy until about 12 months. It was not her personality---- as a toddler she is great! It will get better! I was so afraid that she was going to be like that forever.

4 months was the magic # for us too when DD's colic got better...now she was and is a great sleeper. she was a great toddler in that she wasn't one of those kids who got into everything, constantly tantrumed, ran away etc... the only thing is that she has a little bit of a PITA personality!Chat Icon she wants what she wants when she wants it, she can be a little sour and pouty at times and always seems to "want something", she is overall a good girl and a good listener..she has a bit of an edge to her that was there when she was an infant.
when she was out of the colic stage she had strains of her current personality. she did want to be held and entertained more than my DS who was happy to chill on his mat or play with a toy. she was not a relaxed laid back baby compared to a lot of other kids!

DS was colic. He screamed 24/7 for the first 3 months. After that he became a great sleeper, a great toddler (really no terrible twos), and is now almost 6 years old and is very happy and is a mush Chat Icon

Re: to those whose dc had colic

Both kids had colic/reflux (shoot me! Lol)

Both kids are bad sleepers and extremely high maintenance. We get woken up on a good day 2 times a night, bad day 4-5 nights.

did I mention they are high maintenance and demanding?

They are 2 and 4 yo, and I feel we have 2 infantsChat Icon Huge source of frustration for dh and I.
3 yo is not clingy but my 2 yo is so clingy its driving me nuts!

I love my little guys but I often wonder why they are like this Chat Icon They are this way with everyone, even teachers and strangers

I just noticed a PP mentioned demanding and selfish, we have the same problem.

DS changed drastically by 4 months. He started to STTN right around then (not every night though). He is now 8 months and is generally a happy little guy. He STTN half of the nights I would say. He loves to play and run around. He is cranky when we take something away from him. Because he is starting to walk and he climbs everything we are constantly telling him no so he gets cranky.

Re: to those whose dc had colic

My oldest dd had awful colic until about 4-5 months. She stopped her screaming for hours totally by 5 months but she hardly ever slept! In fact she didn't sttn until 17 months old. Now at 2 years old she sleeps 12 hours a night but rarely takes a nap!

My son suffered terribly from colic. He's 7 now and I still consider him to be colicky. Chat Icon

Re: to those whose dc had colic

my 2nd had colic and after 3 months, he was totally different baby. So happy. So easy. Was always a good sleeper, thank god. But yes he totally changed.

Not sure if it was the colic that got better, us figuring out which formula worked best and/or getting his reflux meds ironed out.

ds#1 was not colicky. He was just a beast for the whole first year. Chat Icon Didn't sleep, clingy, couldn't be put down, etc etc. I think he's just strong willed. But i will say after that 1st year... he got so much better and was/is an awesome, easy toddler. Chat Icon
