anyone else's baby just STOP sleeping at night when they turned 9 months??!
Ever since my ds turned 9 months he became a horrible night sleeper. We used to get 11-12. Hours straight but now we get around 4-5. Then he's up wide awake not wanting to sleep for sometimes 3 hours. I nurse him and he falls asleep on me but then screams the second he goes in his crib until I pick him up and hold him and have to keep nursing him until he falls asleep for good. Then same all over a few hours later. He was never like this. And he doesn't nap during the day formore than 20 mins (since he was about 2 months) so now neither of us is getting sleep. Thought it was teething but neither Tylenol or orajel does anything. I don't know what to do. Please....any suggestions?

This hasn't happened to me yet but it happened to someone I know. The baby was getting up every hour after having been a great sleeper (she was around 9m too). But then as suddenly as it started, she went back to STTN. I think it lasted about 2 weeks and then she was back to normal. They still aren't sure if it was a new food she was eating or teething. Hopefully it's the same for your DS and this is just a short phase!

Re: anyone else's baby just STOP sleeping at night when they turned 9 months??!
Could be separation anxiety. My DD went through it. She slept awesome as a NB, but then at 5 months she stopped sleeping. Everyone kept saying she was teething but Motrin/Tylenol, teething drops, teething tablets, and orajel, nothing helped. At around 8-9 months it got worse.
Also could be maybe he is starting to reach a new milestone like crawling or even walking. Their little brains are on overdrive and makes it hard for them to settle down.
I don't have any suggestions, as nothing I did helped. It's just a phase that WILL pass. I drank alot of coffee It lasted for about a month or 2 for my DD. Good Luck!

I didn't breast feed for long, but is "nursing him" a good idea? You might be creating a habit again... At 9m he shouldn't need to eat in the middle of the night.
DS woke up a few nights crying his eyes out at 11m for about 5 straight nights. We just tried to soothe him... even let him crawl a bit or watch Disney Jr. in my room for 20 minutes... and it calmed him enough so he was ok when we put him back in... One night, we gave him Tylenol right before bed and he didn't wake up that night. I still have no idea why he did it, but it stopped, thank God.
Good luck!

my DS is only 8 months but he is having a few nights a week that he doesn't sleep. Last night he was 5 times. He is teething and learning to walk so I think this is the issue....he has a lot going on.
Your DS might just be learning a lot recently

ugh, this is DS the past 2 weeks. i think it's partly because i took him away for a few nights and let him sleep in the bed with me and partly because of all the new things he is learning at 10 months. he sleeps for about 2 hours at a time in his crib before he wakes up, sits up and stands in the crib screaming for us. he used to be able to roll himself over and go back to sleep. now he won't go back until he comes into bed with me. we have tried to let him cry, try to go in every 10 minutes to soothe and i have nursed and rocked him back to sleep as well. as soon as he hits the crib or wakes and realizes where he is it's starts all over again. I'm hoping it's just a phase!

Re: anyone else's baby just STOP sleeping at night when they turned 9 months??!
Happened to both my kids at that age. Ds1 sttn at 7 weeks and even prior to that was a great sleeper going at least 6 hours from the first night home. Then at 9 months it stopped. Started waking 1x, Dr said it was normal as he was hitting so many milestones (learned to crawl, pull to stand ing and push himself to a sitting position all in less than a week). So I waited and waited, tried lts of methods, earlier bed, later bed, napping, more strict routine, more to eat etc...eventually by a year he was waking 3x a night and i was done. Did Cio and in 3 nights our good sleeper was back.
Ds2 didn't sttn until 7m and then at 9m started waking but after 2 days, I noticed the pattern and let him cio

I'm going through the same situation with my twins. At 9 months they started not sleeping through the night and now at almost 11 months its a little better, because now my son will sleep through the night, but my daughter still has some sleeping issues. It's exhausting.
