Q for moms who have FF from the start

Just wanted to get some advice from moms who have FF.... How long did it take for your swelling to go down when your milk came in? Is there anything to help them to go down faster (i have been wearing a sports bra to help- and i'm still really swollen and uncomfortable). I have also been taking luke-warm showers to not try to stimulate them but I don't know if there is something I am doing wrong? TIA!

my milk came in fierce at 3d PP. I wore tight sports bras and tried not to take them off (unless showering). I kept my back to the water as much as possible.

I iced as much as I could - took maybe 1 week to dry up completely.

Make sure you dont let the water hit your chest at all, because that's what stimulates the milk.
I wore two sports bras for a week and started wearing them the day after I had my DS.
Ice definitely helps too. I iced two times a day at least. I used to stick the ice packs right inside the sports bras!
Hope this helps and it goes down quickly!

Oh boy I remember this well!
One morning I woke up with a boob job!
I walked in the kitchen, flashed DH, and he nearly fainted.
Seriously a B to a D cup overnight.
But as much as I loved how it looked to finally have boobies, the pain was God awful.
So bad I was crying on the couch, begging DH for motrin.
What helped was- tight sports bra, ice packs in the bra, motrin, no hot showers and believe it or not cabbage leaves in the bra.
Keep them cold, put a leaf in each side of your bra and let them wilt.
Once wilted replace them.
You will know when they need replacing when you start smelling sauerkraut cooking in your bra!

I'd say it was all gone in a day or 2- the worst of it at least.

Ice ice ice!!! Tight sports bras like you're doing, I also wrapped a wide ace bandage around when it was bad. Also, I took sudafed.

I only had one bad day and then one not so bad day and it was done.

Ice paks and a sports bra or ace bandage.

There is also a shot your Dr can give you but my OB said no way since i have clotting issues and the shot can cause blood clots. Even if I didn't have the clotting issues I don't think the risk would be worth it since the pain was only a few days.

My milk came in 3 days after delivery. I wore a tight sports bra and used ice and frozen peas in a bag (no joke!). The pain only lasted a few days.

Re: Q for moms who have FF from the start

I agree with PP on the tight bra - it was recommneded to me to wear one a size smaller than normal. ICE- I used bags of frozen peas. When showering, keep your back to the water so it doesn't stimulate. I've heard raves about cabbage leaves as well, but I never did it. Going to do it this time for sure!!

Also- don't let DH touch them! DH was OBSESSED with mine after DS and niece Chat Icon .

I breast fed for two weeks but when I stopped someone told me to put cabbage in my bra. Haha... I did it, my supply was gone in a couple of days.

Re: Q for moms who have FF from the start

If you do the cabbage leaves, make sure to crack the spine of the leaf. I had the cabbage in the fridge, crunched each leaf before putting them in my bra, and changed them whenever they warmed up. I seriously only had one bad day, used the leaves, and was so much better the next day. I also wore the Genie Bra, but any very supportive sports bra will do.

Re: Q for moms who have FF from the start

I never really had an issue for some reason if I recall correctly. Just a few days of some slight leaking but nothing really painful.
