2's were nothing compared to 3... Also, saying No

What happened to my sweet boy?! I'm in terrible 3 HE... Double hockey sticks. LOL

He changes his mind every 30 seconds, wants something then if I'm not fast enough he could change it again. Time outs do work for a bit then he's good and back to his mood.

Half the time I don't even think he knows what he wants, but will say no to whatever
He isn't mean or malicious and usually really good with others like friends, grandparents, and especially to teachers he's an angel. Then he comes to me and it all changes. If I say anything to his grandparents I get the... No, he's perfect.
Ugh! Throwing toys is new too and I take it away.

I remember when I was pregnant and said I won't use the word "NO"
Well, now I feel like its much faster to say No. Lol
I started with... That's not right, we don't do that, that's not safe, please don't.... Etc, etc.
Now it's just ... No. Sometimes I try and stop and won't say no, but no is faster. My poor 13 month old gets no, but I'm better with remember not to say it as much. Chat Icon

What you described sounds ExACTLY like my 2 year old DD.
Especially the mind changing.
She asks for juice- I bring it- she looks at it like it's a pile of cr@p and goes- Water!
Bring the water- she wants milk now.
Asks for more pancakes- I ask her 3 times- are you sure? You really want more? Yes, yes yes.
Bring the pancakes- she says- All done!

This is so true for us as well. Though, as annoying as I find it that he isn't like that for me (ohh...I should be fair and say there are momentsChat Icon) but I am glad that he is usually pretty good for others.

It'll have to get better, right? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Ypu, Mason changes his mind even when he said he wanted it earlier. Chat Icon

Sorry Linda... Doesn't get better and he's getting rough with his brother, but at least his brother is 13 months and pretty tough himself. They play nice for a moment then anything can change in an instant and someone is screaming.

Re: 2's were nothing compared to 3... Also, saying No

DS is 34 months and most things get a "no" nowadays. You want to take a bath? - NO, You want a shower? - NO. But then he gets put in either and has a blast playing with the water.

You want Gma and Gpa (his absolute favorite people) to come to the beach with us? - NO, NO, NO. They get in the car and he's all smiles and can hardly contain his excitement.

It's tough though bc you never know when it's really a no. When asked if he wants to go back to swim school he answers no and lately has been saying "No preschool." Chat Icon

I guess it's just the age. He also likes to use the word "not." As in "that's NOT a white pick-up truck, it's red."Chat Icon

Re: 2's were nothing compared to 3... Also, saying No

My perfectly calm sweet boy has been replaced by a toy throwing, head banging, "No" yelling 3 year old.

He's overall pretty good, but if he's tired and he doesn't get his way, watch out! We'd seriously give him anything he wanted at that point, but even he has no idea what he wants. It's the age, and we're just rolling with it.

My FIL is staying with us, and he insists he's NEVER heard of a 3 year old behaving this way. The fault obviously lies with my and my DH's parenting skills (as we've been told), because my husband and his 2 sisters never behaved this way when they were children, and neither did/do my FIL's other 2 grandchildren. No, of course not......Chat Icon

DD will be 3 in October and I've already seen a change in her over the last few wks! Everything, just about everything, is a battle. Heaven forbid I give her a cup in the wrong color Chat Icon. But I remember everyone telling me 3 is much harder than 2 so at least I was expecting it. Might have called an exorcist had I not known this was "normal"., lol

It's seriously like PMS! I had no problem with my girls when they were 2, they are almost 3 (I think I just consider them 3 already) BUT holy crap! We just went away for one night and I thought I was going to lose my mind, I almost slept in the car because I couldn't take it.

THis!!

DS was great at 2, never a terrible 2's kid.
Three that changed
Four he is a PITA.
He is smart enough now that he has an answer to everything. He knows what he wants, what he likes, doesnt like etc and he has many more outside influences.

I am praying 5 is better!!!Chat Icon
