Constipation or normal?
DS is 4months he still gets exclusively breastmilk. His bowel move, ents have been less and less however now it's been 48 hrs since a dirty diaper... Plenty of wet diapers.. But when he does go its liquid. He's also teething too. I. Going to cal dr in the am, just wanted to ask here also. My mom says he needs cereal to help give hi something to pass instead of just liquid, he's a big boy too.. 16lbs.
TIA

Constipation or normal?
It is perfectly normal for a breastfed baby to go 4 days between poops. Because breastmilk is the perfect food for a baby, there is less waste than there would be with formula, so baby doesn't need to poop as often. My second was this way. In the beginning, he was very regular, but by 2 months or so, he was going every 4 days. And when he did go, it was liquidy like you said. I asked the doctor about it and she said the consistency would be different from normal if he is going several days between poops. I described it and she said it sounded normal. As for you mom's advice, cereal or any solid is often binding for a baby at first, so that wouldn't help. As long as he is not in pain, straining to poop, and the poop still has seeds, he should be fine. HTH!
