Bumbo Seat Recalled!

Why are people using this anywhere but on the floor????

That's like recalling a car because someone tried to use it as a boat and it sank. Common sense people!!!!!

Bumbo Seat Recalled!

I didn't even realize there wasn't a strap on the Bumbo. I have the Summer Infant Super Seat and it has a strap. But I also would NEVER put it anywhere but the floor. Yikes!

Re: Bumbo Seat Recalled!

If you use this seat correctly, there is little hazard. I don't see how they can correct this b/c anything can be dangerous when used improperly.

Bumbo Seat Recalled!

Agreed with PP...another recall based on parental silliness (I wanted to use another word, but I'm being PC)

i love my bumbo and i have used it on elevated surfaces when my child was very young and I was right there- I never had an issue. i think it comes down to common sense and knowing your child

Re: Bumbo Seat Recalled!

I totally agree!!! Should never be on a high surface!! However, I am glad they are adding straps. Just yesterday I was feeding my twins lunch in the Bumbo and was never more glad that we were on the play mats. My "squirmy" girl flopped herself out of it and would have banged her head hard if we were not on the mats.

i agree with this. I never used it on high surfaces and if people did well Chat Icon but i will say i rarely used it cause DD always seem to almost flip her self out of it. If it had straps i probably would have used it more often!

Re: Bumbo Seat Recalled!

Just another example of parents doing stupid things causing a recall of a perfectly useful product. The Bumbo was my savior when DS was about 3 months and remained that way for quite some time until he was able to squirm out of it. At that time, I used what is commonly called logic and common sense and decided it was unsafe for his use.

The issue here is not where the bumbo is placed but the lack of supervision while the child is in it. That's when it is unsafe. I put it on my kitchen table a number of times while I was feeding him without incident. Why? Because I was sitting right there, supervising. If I had to get up, he came with me. Again, common sense.

People need to use common sense! why put a baby in a bumbo in any body of water and walk away??? even for a second?

I was never a huge fan of it. DD was a big baby and if she leaned back, it would start to tip. But I'd never leave DD in unattended (and never ever on an elevated surface).

I loved the bumbo, but the second they learn they can arch back & get out.. it's done. It was great while we could use it.

Re: Bumbo Seat Recalled!

People are very stupid!!!!

Then when BIL and his wife had a baby, someone gave them a handed down booster style high chair, the ones that you'd put on a kitchen chair. They CUT OFF the straps that would have held it to the chair but they still used it on a chair.

I am very safety concsious yet I keep saying that it would be just my luck that these idiots have no accidents but my kid gets hurt somewhere.

We loved the bumbo. We never used it on a high surface.

I never spoke like this before I saw what some people do but I swear there should be a license application to become a parent.

I know someone who dropped her baby from the changing table 4 times and STILL blames the baby for being so "squirmy." After all she just stepped away to get something while her baby was on the tableChat Icon .

Re: Bumbo Seat Recalled!

not every parent who winds up with an injured child is using it improperly or is a dumb parent. My son was on the floor in his bumbo and just flopped himself right out of it and landed face first on the floor. The skin that connects the upper lip to the gums tore a bit and he was bleeding. Unfortunately sometimes you don't find out your child has learned to escape it until it's too late Chat Icon I'm glad they are offering the restraint belt.

ETA: he was also not unattended. I was in the room with him about 3 feet away...I just wasn't fast enough to catch him.

I actually agree with these types of recalls. Parental stupidity or not it seems like this product in use is too commonly harmful.
