Please Talk to Me About When Your Child Bumps Their Head
Hi,
I am sick about it. Probably because I am going through mommy guilt of how did this happen.
On Friday night my DD tripped over DH and feel right into our glass coffee table. It was awful! Thankfully the glass didn't break which would have cause more injuries but she got a HUGE bump above her eyebrow, lower forehead. We watched for signs all night of concussion and there were none so we went with all we read and never took her to the DR. She never vomitted, cried right away, didn't fall asleep, acting normal, etc.
Fast forward until today, two days later. The bump has gone down of course but she lookes terrible. It's like her nose, inner eye area and above her eyebrow are all awkward looking. Its starting to bruise as well.
Please, tell me, how long does it take for something like this to heal? I am sick to my stomach abotut it. Probably because shes not had anything like this before and the first is also gut wrenching.
Thank you.

Re: Please Talk to Me About When Your Child Bumps Their Head
My older one pushed my younger off a box the other night. He had a HUGE goose egg on his forehead. I sat him on the couch with a lollipop in order to distract him from the ice pack.
He hit the back of his head in June and had all the signs of a concussion, he cried for over an hour, clingy, refused dinner. On the way to the Immediate Care, he vomitted. They sent us to Winthrop.
As long as the act the same, eat, drink, you ice if necessary. We usually are more upset than they are.
He still has a huge bruise on his head bc he hit it again today. Everyone heals differently.

I felt the same way when DD hit her head when she was about 7 months old. It was on our coffee table also, right above her eye. It was awful! She was bruised for over a week. It looked worse the second & third day, she looked like a mess. After the third day it started getting a little better.
