It wasn't until her 2nd birthday that my DD developed an attachment. We wanted to buy her a toddler pillow for her crib, but could not find one anywhere. We went to TRU and the blanket/pillow sets were crazy Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon We found a Disney Princess pillow and blanket on sale and thought well if she hates it at least we're only out $11. She is freaking OBSESSED with Princess bankie and Princess piwow. She won't sleep with out them or leave the house with out them. Never before had she been attached to anything. My son is only 9months old, but he is attached to blankets. He HAS to have a blanket to sleep. He doesn't care what one he gets, as long as he can cuddle with it. We have 3 large knit afghans we rotate through.

DD is attached to the soft stuffed baby doll from pottery barn. She didn't start becoming super attached until she was about 2.

DD did not until about 15 months. She is 18 months now and carries 2 Minnie mouses with her wherever she goes. I think 7 months is a little early.

DS does not have anything like that. He doesn't need nor never needed a "binky", blanket or stuffed animal. Thank God!!!! I see what parents have to go through to get them to give these things up. It's torture for the child and parent.

DS didn't become attached to something until he was somewhere between 1 and 2 years old. He's still attached to it at 3.5.

Dolly. Or "Dah" as she calls her. Chat Icon
Eta: she's almost 10m, the attachment really started around 8.5-9m.

My twins are 19 months and have just recently become more attached to their loveys. They have been in their cribs since about 9 months.

At about a year DS started tucking it under his belly when he sleeps.

Just recently dd has been asking for "my bear" is the funniest long island accent.

I try to leave them in the cribs, they never leave the house.

I bought them each a different one so they don't become too attached to a specific one but they still have their favorite.

If your DC doesn't become attached I would consider that a good thing...one less thing to "take away" when they are older

My parents will NOT let it go how odd it is that my DD (who is 7.5months old) does not have any attachment to a blanky or a stuffed animal. My niece and nephew both need their favorite blanky in order to nap and DD has no such sentimentality =)

1. Your lucky.
2. You cant "loose" the most important thing the kid loves.
3. Sorry about it for your neice and nephew.

This is a GOOD thing.

YES. Ugh...

DS is completely obsessed with 'Teddy.' He goes EVERYWHERE with us. He's pretty much my 3rd child. haha I seriously feel like if we ever lost him, I would be just as devastated as my DS.
I'd say he became attached around 8 or 9 months... but became SUPER attached (going everywhere with us) around a year and half. It's at an all time high now (he turned 2 at the end of June).

DD has a Big Bird doll that she always has to sleep with, but he never leaves her bed. It's just a sleeping attachment at this point. Probably started when she was around a year old (she turned 3 in June).

Here's DS and Teddy from about a week ago when we were heading into the Georgia Aquarium... (the fuzz is starting to come out of his nose)

Yes. My DD has her "blankie" and she will NOT go anywhere or sleep without it. She started getting attached to it around a few months old, she's almost 4 and there is NO sign of her letting go of that blankie anytime soon. But it's so cute so I don't mind!! Chat Icon

DS is 22 months and he is attached to a stuffed monkey from FAO Schwarz that my SIL gave him when he was born. We started putting it in his crib around 9 or 10 months and he drags him around everywhere. We don't allow it outside and he's good with that.

Re: Does your DC have a blanket/stuffed animal that they are attached to?

My DS was like this. I couldn't understand why he wasn't attached to anything. But, lo and behold, around age 2 or shortly before he became attached to his blanket - he has 2 of them. He needs one to nap and sleep at night. Falls asleep holding it. And it must accompany him downstairs (sleeps upstairs) once we start our day. I think it's cute. I wouldn't worry. Every child is different.

My DD has a minnie doll that she likes to sleep with, but she could totally fall asleep with out it.

Sometimes she likes to take it out of the crib and play with it, but it mostly stays in her crib. But if it wasn't there one night she wouldn't even notice.

She actually picks out something different every night to take to bed with minnie.

DS and DD both have stuffed animals that they are attached too. DS is 5.5 and he still sleeps with a blue dog that he got as a baby. DD has the same dog in pink and it always has to be on her bed at night. She is 2.5.

Re: Does your DC have a blanket/stuffed animal that they are attached to?

DS is about to turn 5 and he has 2 blankets that he is attached to which he calls them "doodies" Chat Icon he was not attached to these blankets until about 2 1/2 years old. none of my kids as babies had an attachment to anything until they were older...and come to think of it, DD is about to turn 7 and she doesnt have anything special she sleeps with. Since both were born, both listened to a lullabye CD at bedtime which both kids still need at bedtime (does that count as an attachment)
i would think your DC at 7 months old is still young to form any attachments to items? then again, ive never heard of a specific age in which kids do be come attached to anything anyway!
