Re: Do you feed your babies with the same method you were fed as a baby?
I'm adopted, so obviously I was FF. I BF both of my boys. My mom was supportive in theory, but she couldn't offer any help or advice, but she isn't I've me a hard time about it either. My mil hated not knowing exactly how much DS was eating. She got better when I started pumping and she could feed the baby a bottle herself.

My mom and I both FF but neither was by choice - neither one of us had enough of a supply and both my daughter and I were not gaining enough by being BF.

I was formula fed but I breastfeed. I dont think many women breastfed 30 years ago, but I could be wrong.

I was formula fed. I breastfed my DS, but only for a month. I wish that I didn't give up and breastfed for longer. If God blesses us with more children, I plan to breastfeed again, hopefully lasting a longer time.

Re: Do you feed your babies with the same method you were fed as a baby?
I was FF and I BF DS. When I was born, my mom was given a shot to stop milk production. She did not ask for it, but her obgyn gave her the shot without her knowing or telling her that he gave her the shot. My mom tried BF me but obviously no milk was being produced. My pediatrician told her that she probably was given the shot and they could reverse it by pumping. Unfortunately it was very painful and my mom had no support from her mom or my father, so she gave up. My mom was very supportive of my BFing though. Whenever i doubted myself she told me not to and was my number one supporter incontinuing. I BF DS for 22 months

I dont think you are wrong about this. It was not the thing to breastfeed when I was born. It was looked down upon.

Re: Do you feed your babies with the same method you were fed as a baby?
My mother BF me til I was 2 . However, she did not BF my two older sisters. She was older when she had me and the nurse in the hospital told her try and see if I would latch. Well I did and apparently never let go! LOL I BF and FF my daughter for a little more than 3 months and now just FF.
My Mom was very supportive when I decided to just FF even though she EBF for so long

I don't think that is completely true. My mom was a nurse before I was born. She had worked at Columbia Presb. My uncle went to med school there and my aunt worked there too. They said back in the 70s the nurses and doctors' families were BFing. Most of my friends whose parents were doctors also were BF for at least a short time. My uncle said that there wasn't a lot of education but that a lot of the medical community were BFing. It was a more private thing as in you wouldn't see people out bfing though. I could be wrong but also back then I think peds had people start milk at a much younger age. I think more people do extending bfing today then they did then. I was bf and my mom says most of the moms she knew in our town bf as well. I wouldn't say it was looked down upon but maybe a lesser known option. Saying it was looked down upon is more like saying these days that those who have higher degrees tend to bf while those who don't tend to give formula which isn't true. I think it is more your personal frame of reference. People tend to generalize by what people in their circle do.
