SAHM & Cleaning poll

SAHM do you have a cleaning lady? My DH got me one for the summer for Mothers Day. I have one more month of it and have been spoiled where i don't want to give it up. DH said if we can find someone cheaper then we can continue with it.

A part of me feels like I stay home why can't I just find the time, then the other part of me says who are you kidding DD is 12 months old, will only relax when napping, and there is so much straightening up and daily maintenance/laundry to do when she is napping that I can't find the time to deep clean.

DH works OT a couple nights a week, and DD goes to bed at 8:30 and I am pooped by then.

I would LOVE one, but my husband would not go for that. He does not trust anyone in the house.

Re: SAHM & Cleaning poll

I hire 2 girls to do a major clean every 4 months. I feel guilty to have them more often.

Re: SAHM & Cleaning poll

I'm SAHM for the most part (may work some PT hours), but I now have a 5 month old and a 6 and 8 year old...

I do all the household stuff, including cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. Is it harder now with the baby? Yep! But I wouldn't want a cleaning person. I am super particular with how things are done, when they are done, etc. I know it's wrong to say, but it just wouldn't be good enough for me.

My DH helps out a lot, but he also works 6 days a week and 12 hour days, so the bulk of it falls to me. Sure my house is messy at any given moment... but it'll get done and I don't worry too much.

SAHM & Cleaning poll

I hate cleaning and I'm not good at it. I used to have a cleaning lady when I worked and would love to have one now, but I can't get the house organized enough to have one regularly. As soon as I'm done "cleaning for the cleaning lady" I'll get one! Until then my house just looks like a disaster and I'm fine with that!

If we had extra money, that is the first thing I would do.
Next would be a landscaper.

My DD is only 2 months and I'm already wishing I had a cleaning lady... I seriously can't get anything done when she's awake (which is a lot more these days Chat Icon ). My house is a disaster which in turn makes me feel like a mess... No bueno. I def am going to look innto getting someone to come like 2x a month.

THIS! Even though I am home with DS it is IMPOSSIBLE to get the deep cleaning done. Sure I can vacuum and dust but there is no way I'd be able to scrub toilets and floors during the day. And when he goes to bed I go to bed, LOL.

Re: SAHM & Cleaning poll

I am a SAHM. I actually do not want one. DH and I both are against having strangers in our home to clean for us. We know of a few stories of people we know who had things stolen, etc, by their cleaning persons. I actually get skeeved at the thought of a stranger cleaning my home. So for now, it def could be cleaner, but I prefer to do it myself, so I do it mostly when DH is home.

Re: SAHM & Cleaning poll

I have a team of three who do an awesome job. They come every 2 weeks.

I don't feel guilty at all. I have 4 and 2 year old boys. I started using a cleaning person when the 4 year old stopped napping a year ago.

I clicked no but would like one. I feel like I spend so much time just trying to clean and keep up with things. It's like i'm taking time away from my little ones. I work part time, but consider myself more of a SAHM.

Same here. I take some time every few weekends and do a deep clean.

Re: SAHM & Cleaning poll

I just hired the lady who has been cleaning two of my neighbors houses for over five years. Being 37 weeks pregnant with my third there was no way I could keep up with it nor, do as good of a job as I would want. I had her do a deep cleaning first and she just came back for my first monthly cleaning. (she's $100 for once a month) I will most likely keep her for a couple of months while I get adjusted with a newborn and two other DC.

DH doesn't really approve, but sees how much of a help she is. So he's going along with it for now!

Re: SAHM & Cleaning poll

I barely have time to empty the dishwasher and do laundry-- I would love to have her once a week as opposed to every other. I cannot seem to stay on top of keep the house straight, let alone hardcore cleaning.

I'm a PT WAHM and just fired our cleaning ladies. I'm hoping I can keep up with the cleaning, but thankfully DH is very supportive of hiring someone periodically if we need some help.

I feel no guilt anymore.....

This is just me but I wouldn't want a cleaning lady. My house is generally neat because I pick-up every day and stay on top of things but also, I actually like cleaning. It takes my mind of things, I put on some music, bounce around the house and get everything done. Knowing me, I would be cleaning before the cleaning lady came because I'm pretty anal about how I want things to be. Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA - I also really would not want someone touching my things and moving stuff around. I feel like our home is our sanctuary, I just don't want someone in every room of our home touching everything. I wouldn't feel comfortable.

Re: SAHM & Cleaning poll

Deep down, would it be nice sure.....but I know I don't need one.

I have no problem finding time to clean. Is it completely 100% thorough all the time, no. But I dust & vacume. The fine details (shutters, really moving & dusting & polishing, etc) really only gets done about 1x a month.

I did have one but let her go. I need someone every week because I stil deep clean between visits and I can't afford every week. Plus I didn't want anyone in the home when I'm not there, so I was stuck in the house while she was cleaning
