Anybody else have a wrestling match to change a diaper?
Lately, my 11 month DS pitches a fit every time I need to change his diaper or his outfit. I seriously break a sweat every time. He squirms all over the place and screams his head off. I have one arm holding him down and the other doing all the work. It's complete madness. Then I pick him up and he is as happy as a clam, just as he was before hand. It's like Hellooo..we have been doing this every day, ten times a day for the past 11 months. What's the problem buddy? Anyone else deal with this? Is this just a phase?

LOL! DD is now 22 months old and she did that on and off and still does it sometimes. She thinks it's funny to give me a hard time.

It's more like an MMA match over here. It sometimes helps if she has a toy.

Lol omg i thought it was just us...dd was perfect for 12 months during diaper change ....friends with kids would always comment how good she is...well she is now 13 months n i need an army of toys near the diaper station to distract her n eight arms to hold her down no idea what happened :(. But i hope she grows out of it real soon.

about 50% of my diaper changes are like that these days. I have actually gotten really good at putting a diaper on her while she is standing up.

Re: Anybody else have a wrestling match to change a diaper?
My DS was always like that from day one and it has only gotten worse with age. He is 10 months now and just started grabbing himself down there. If my husband is around he holds him down while I change him...especially with poop diapers...what a mess

ds had a LONG "phase" of it.... yet daycare didn't have a problem with it.... eventually we gave him a toy to hold and he didn't fight it so much.

DD is like this now. She used to be fine. Then the battle started. I hope it passes soon! I actually think I need to start changing her on the floor b/c she pushes and squirms so much that she is going to fall no matter how I try to hold her!

Re: Anybody else have a wrestling match to change a diaper?
YEP started around 11 months and hasn't stopped since - we tried giving him a toy and that worked for awhile but then he just started throwing them, sometimes I give him a small book to flip through and that works - honestly, for my own sanity, if he doesn't cooperate i use the new huggies little movers slip-on diapers (i have heard of people using pull-ups too). the toy, books, singing, etc can get him through most diaper changes but i find myself using the huggies slip ons at least once a day because i'm just not interesting in wrestling anymore

Re: Anybody else have a wrestling match to change a diaper?
Omg. I have twins and at 8 months they roll all over the place when I try to change their diapers. They fight me tooth and nail and I am a sweaty mess by the time I'm done wrestling them and their diaper is half hanging off.
I'm usually exhausted by that time and they know all my distraction tricks so they won't fall into those traps. . Sounds like this is not a phase.

Re: Anybody else have a wrestling match to change a diaper?
DS has been doing this for a couple months now. I make sure I have a bunch of toys/books handy to try and keep him still and occupied. I am so fast at changing him, but I'm apparently not fast enough for his liking

Anybody else have a wrestling match to change a diaper?
My twins are 19 months and fight tooth and nail. They throw toys at me, kick, roll over! Normally I would lay them on the floor and put one leg over them do they can't get up and it works. But at 9 mo this pregnant, that's not happening right now . I've started using the belt thingy on the changing table. Helps a little bit!

My son does this and I blow rasberry's on his belly. It gets him laughing and he forgets about the fight.

Re: Anybody else have a wrestling match to change a diaper?
DD is a nightmare to change! It started around 8 months & seems to get worse everyday, she's 1 now. Sometimes she co-operates for a quick second when I sing to her but it's rare.

Re: Anybody else have a wrestling match to change a diaper?
I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I'm just hoping that I lose some weight with all this cardio I'm doing between the wrestling and the bending down to pick up all the toys he throws everywhere!

19 month old twins here too! Its madness. They push and kick and roll and stand up and throw the toys. Grab for the curtains, lamp, try to jump off, etc. Sometimes what helps is when they actually have something theyre not supposed to like the wipes box or vaseline jar. I dont care - whatever works!

I'm having the same problem with my 7.5 month old... he throws a fit everytime he is on the changing table -- and his new thing is to violently grab his junk -- which is super fun when i've just put A&D on him, or he's pooped
I've tried everything from giving him a diapers, toys, binky's... nothing distracts him!
